Re: Whats the Best Air Intake System?
None of those companies make Intakes for the MX-3.
Actually, if someone wants to get technical, HKS makes a Filter adaptor for the 4-cyl RS's with the MAF Sensor.
But, for the 6-cyl-- most guys are either making custom Intakes from premade intake kits for other cars, or going with the PRM.

Re: Whats the Best Air Intake System?
If you have a V6, the PRM cold air and HotShot cold air are both good. You can go to a person on this forum I forget his name, but if you search around you can find it like me, it was an Acura Integra Cold Air setup on the MX-3, wasn't a bad deal either. But besides that the HKS is probably the least popular because of its Ram Air setup. I would suggest the PRM cold air intake with the polished downpipe. It looks nice, sounds good and works well. Good luck.

Custom made is the way to go. The PRM is an OK design, but still utilizes the restrictive rubber hose, and still uses some of the resonator boxes that are designed to quiet the intkae sound.

Re: Whats the Best Air Intake System?
could someone tell me which home depot actually sells this intake that you are talkin about. I mean what kind of pipe should i ask for, and what about the airflow sensor holes. how would you shape it ??? I went to home depot both for this intake and for some mesh to cover my front bumper, they didnt have anything i could use for intake and all they had for the mesh was chicken wires.

Re: Whats the Best Air Intake System?
Look on ebay and getan integra cai and all it takes is a little modding. Besides it looks better than the home depot one. What i did is have the local rice shop order me a straight peice of tubing and a 90 and made it myself. You also have to have some coulplers 2.5 in. to 3 from the TB and two more 3in to 3in for your vaf. plus a filter. I went with a ractive. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Whats the Best Air Intake System?
actually home depot didn't help me one bit with my fabrication, they don't sell the proper size couplers to get the job done.
I bought a 88-91 civic Si (or CRX si) intake from ebay for $25 shipped. came with a long pipe with like 3 bends in it, and a filter and a 2.5"-3" coupler.
Next, i needed to figure out where to cut my pipe. I basically cut it into one 60 degree elbow and a 45 degree elbow. I then measured the size couplers i'd require to get the stuff to fit.
My measurements for my KL:
-throttle body to pipe: 2.75"-3" coupler
-First pipe to VAF meter: 3"-3.5"
-VAF meter to second pipe: 3"-3"
-second pipe required a 3" opening filter (which came with the intake.
So thats a total of 7 clamps, 3 couplers that I custom ordered (cost $62 shipped!! turbo hose is expensive, but worth it). So I spent about a total of $90 for everything, and I even have leftover piping in case I wanted to route the pipes into the fender well later on.
