tick tick noise when i take my foot off the gas?

so this has just started recently actually, within the past few days, and i am just wondering if anyone knows what's up.<p>when i start my car there's a faint ticking noise that eventually dies out. then, if i'm driving and my foot is on the gas the ticking stops, but whenever i take my foot off (and am basically slowing at this point) the pedal i can hear a tick-tick-tick noise that seems to be coming from the engine, but is really apparent from the inside of the car (cant hear it much from the outside). <p>the ticking slows down as the car slows, and it doesnt happen when i'm at a stop.<p>any ideas?<p>it happened once before but i fixed it by getting an oil change. i dont think it's the oil this time though, because it was just changed 2 weeks ago.<p>thanks!<p>

the ticking noise you hear when you start your car is because the oil hasnt circulated up to the cams & valves yet so thats why it goes away.<p>As for the ticking when you drive, if it only happens when you're moving then it isnt your engine. it could be a nail in the tire. Check all 4 tires all the way around to ensure it isnt that.

this is the infamous evil tick wait till you get a CAI then you can hear it constantly

If you start to hear it constantly, one of your camshaft friction gears needs replacing. It's about C$1100.00 for an authorized Mazda dealership to do it.
