Loss of mpg!!!!!!

Well, since my last service(plugs,oil+filter,air filter ,fuel filter) and putting my 17`s with(215/40)tyres on my mpg has dropped from about 280 a tank to 240 a tank is this because of the new wheels or is it O2 sensors,plug leads etc? Please help me out thanks in advance

do you have winter weather there now? If its colder, you will lose a little gas mileage.

not really winter weather but it happened exactly after the wheels went on

well DUH!!! ur wheels are bigger, probably heavier and thus increases engine work, reducing mpgs

doesn't 40 km on a tank seem like a lot for just 17's? regardless, I wouldn't worry about it too much ...maybe your just driving it harder because of your nice new rims... dunno.

I've had a parallel experience recently, without making any change to the car. The mpg went from 30 to 26 for mixed driving. I think it's either the colder weather, a bit more enthusiasm with the loud pedal, or a bit of each.
