Got a Problem.....( i think)
Ok here is the deal...im driveing home from College going the speed limit. some cars pass me at a higher rate of speed so i decide to get behind them and follow. as i start to get on it...i notice my engine Temp needle drop all the way to COLD and the rise a little and drop and rise and drop kind fast like....so i slow down naturaly...as soon as i go the speed limit it slowly returns to operateing temp(right below half for me)...so i decide to test something...i gun it again..and what do u know it does it again....but it NEVER over heats...just under heats...i think its a sensor or somethin like that. ummm i by passed the heater core and the throttle body...but this is the first time this have happened...i put my hand on the manifold...and it was at a comfortable temp..i could keep it there...what up?

Like you're thinking, could be the temp sensor that drives the gauge is going bad.

I'm thinking the same as Pelado. The sensor may be only able to handle comfortable ranges, once you start heating up a lot it'll go crazy. I'm starting to worry this may cause a failure in something. So replacing the sensor may not be an idea to put off.
