after computer swap.... idle problem

Post by furiousclouds »

I had been running my 2.5 on my 1.8 ecu and i recently aquired a new ecu for $100. it seemed to be a direct plug and play after putting the bracket from the 1.8 onto the 2.5 ecu. i started the car, and it started fine but would not idle... it turned off immediately. i adjusted the air adjustment screw and it stayed on for a couple of seconds and a popping noise started happening in the vicinity of the distributor cap... if anyone has any help... i really need it to figure this out... thanks

Are you still using the 1.8L VAF or did you manage to get a 2.5L VAF with the PCM?

I know it take about 2 weeks for the ECU to relearn who to run the engine properly but that seems a bit much I would check for a vacum leak somewhere<BR>Good luck

It sounds like an air leak in the intake hose(s) somewhere between the throttle body and the air sensor. Good luck!

thanks guys... i just picked up a vaf for the 2.5, and i do have a leak in my air intake hose... now to wait on a special order intake hose from throttle to vaf.... 54 bucks sucks but it will be worth it in the long run
