Constant flooding
Hello,<P>My 1993 MX3 V6 died on the side of the road Wednesday morning. The garage I took it into has had a devil of a time getting it back on it's wheels again. After replacing 3 sensors including a mass flow and a temp. sensor the car still insists on flooding the engine and fouling out the plugs. Has anyone else experienced this type of issue with their Mazda? Has my car given up the ghost and it's time to move on?<P>Thanks,<P>Dave Newton

It sounds like your mechanics are pursueing the hit or miss approach to troubleshooting. This will make it very expensive for you, although it could be very expensive anyway! But wouldn't you like to know you're spending money to replace parts that are actually broken? Get your car out of the garage it's in now. <P>My recommendation would be to take it to a Mazda dealer. At least they'll have a factory shop manual (there's one on MX-3.com in case you hadn't noticed) which has a trouble shooting section and procedures on how to tell if sensors are really bad instead of just guessing. Guessing is what I would be doing by looking at the shop manual I have in my hands because I wouldn't be able to do anything else without actually being there.<P>Good luck!

Has your mechanic made sure that the injectors are firing (opening and closing) properly? Fuel injectors are fragile things and if the tips crack or they stick open the engine will flood. I ahd this happen on a Nissan I used to own. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hi all:<P>Thanks for the feedback. I am on my way to the shop right now to check on my car. I agree with the post that said the garage was 'hit or miss' troubleshooting. (I work with computers and I know the process
) If no progress has been made, I'll probably get it towed to a Mazda dealership next week. The reason why I used a 3rd party garage is because of the crappy service I started getting at the Mazda dealership I was taking it to in Dallas.<P>When this began, I assumed it was a fuel pump or something that had gone faulty. It's gotten complex and expensive quick. Sadly, I've already started looking for a replacement for my lil green guy. I bought my MX-3 brand new in the spring of '93. Since then, I've gotten a family and need a dependable daily driver.<P>I already ran into the distributor problem. That happened in Febuary of this year. The car just topped 90K miles.
