low-key mods
im new to this side of the scene, ive always loved modified cars, fast cars, etc, but never really knew anything about them... mostly was reserved to watching guys zoom around in them (im female). im not looking for ultimate performance, but i am looking to learn anything anyone will teach. id like to tinker around with my 92 MX-3 GS V6, no major mods, just a pinch here and there maybe. coolant bypassing, little things like that. i need a new muffler and tip, should i get the cat-back pacesetter? is it worth the investment? any descriptions of small mods and their effects (no matter how miniscule) would be appreciated... im just playing around, maybe someday when i have some money and knowledge ill try out the racing scene, heh. ^_^ thanks!

goto a good muffler shop, and pick yourself out a nice looking performance muffler. Then tell them you want a mandrel bent 2.0" inch cat-back made for you. <P>It will be a little bit more expensive than the Pacesetter, but it will last. Its still a lot less expensive than any of the typical 400-500 dollar honda systems.<P>Also, no matter what kind of s--- they try to tell you about getting 2.25" piping, insist on 2.0" piping. It will provide better results.

right on sts, i wouldnt get the pacesetter, that things made to rust out, go get urself a nice custom stainless set up with a good muffler, and have it put on by a reputable shop. make sure that u use 2in otherwise u'll loose alot of torque "off the line power"

you can get CAI<BR>poor Water Wetter in the coolant<BR>(auto tranny=IAT mod or Stick tranny=STS)<BR>better plugs and wires<P><BR>Factor pipe size is 1.75"

i would advise against water wetter being she lives in mich where it gets cold, cause if she forgot to put her colant back in when it got cold she would be in a world of s---

Water Wetter is an additive, not a replacement for coolant. Its a small red bottle, about 8 ounces, IIRC. It works quite well, and from what i can recall, there were no warnings about running it in cold weather. hmm, in my super street it says sumthin like your supposed to drain your coolant and replace it with water or sumthin then poor that in and it says that you have to make sure that you put your antifreeze back in. maybe i read wrong, but i;ll go back and check. if im wrong thanks for correcting me

PRM is the general consensus as far as cold air intakes. You can get it at <A HREF="http://www.corksport.com" TARGET=_blank>www.corksport.com</A> for $10 cheaper than <A HREF="http://www.prmracing.com." TARGET=_blank>www.prmracing.com.</A> I had it on my MX-3 and loved it. I don't ever remember hearing anything bad at all.

wow i must have been having a particularly bad memory hiccup there... i completely forgot about PRM ^_^;; i cant seem to find it on corksport though... it wont kill me to pay ten more dollars at prm itself, but does anyone know where else to find one cheaper or find it on corksport?

or you can make your own CAI. get a K&N coneical filter for $30, go to Home Depot and look at all the types of piping they have, and figure out how to rig a pipe from the bottom of the car to the filter. i'm gonna do that this x-mas when i don't have anything better to do. also, check some of the other posts, there's a lot of stuff being talked about right now.
