I have intake/exhaust. I usually get about 22-27 miles/gallon on 87 octane. Yes, thats Miles per gallon for all you crazy canucks!!! hehe, just kidding guys.

i get about 500 kilometers to a tank. well i did put it to 530 once. thats with about 39 liters of regular fule. i think its 86 oct. and i probably could rub the meter a lil farther im thinkin. but i dont want to run it too low. im guessin i could probably get 580 if i was real easy on the accelerating. also most of my driving is country driving done in 5th gear at 80Kph. its standard so that helps alot.

I usually get about 300 to 320 miles to the tank with 89 octane in the tank. But with an octane booster, it drops rather considerably. But thats also with lots of stop and go driving on the way to my Girlfriends house and back. (*whip*)ha ha, not really.

i find it really depends on what kind of driving i did some tests just to find out and over a 50km spand (i know it's not all that far a distance) from a full tank at 100km i paid about 2 bux to fill the tank up again but at 130 it was almost five. the car isn't bad but it's not very efficient when you push her fast, wish i could change the rartio on fifth. (is that possible)

I drive pretty erratic, jack-rabbit starts all the time. On $20 of Sonoco Ultra 94 @ 69.9c/Litre i get at least 250Kms, I had a good week where i did 330kms

From looking at all your relatively awesome fuel economy numbers, I'm starting to think that there must be something up with my '93 5 spd. GS. <P>Unless I *really* push it on or under the E mark, I never get more than 235 miles on a full tank. I've actually periodically calculated my exact m.p.g and it's been around the same average (22 mpg) for all four years that I've had the car. <P>Until now I've just chalked it up as normal for an older high revving V-6, but now I'm starting to wonder. <P>My car is unmodified and I don't regularly carry much extra weight. I drive fast when it's safe, but it's not like I dog it all the time, and I think I hit the right shift points. I do almost all city driving, and it's usually hot here so the A/C is always on except on cool nights. But even on long highway drives that I've done, the mileage only improves slightly. <P>My performance has always been pretty damn good, and I haven't noticed any degradation since I've had the car. For the whole life of the car (except for the past year) it's even had ALL of it's service and maintenance done at the same Mazda dealership.<P>When Florida used to have emissions testing, I always had low numbers. On a side note, isn't that crazy that there's no emissions testing here anymore?!? There is now no regular vehicle inspections of any kind in Florida. Is it like that anywhere else? <P>Anyway, what gives? I wouldn't mind saving a few extra bucks and polluting less if there's something I can do to help improve my mileage without impacting performance.<P>Are some cars just more efficient, or are most people here that quote better mileages driving 4 bangers? Has anyone with a GS had similar mileage consistently?

A good day on the highway could net me up to 32 mpg, even in the city my mileage was better than it is now. currently I'm getting 24-25 mpg average.<BR> now a good day on the highway might get me 29-30mpg. I'm guessing we can recover some or all of that lost mileage with some new oxygen sensors and a good tune up.<BR> I for one was glad they stopped the testing here in Florida.<BR> there's alot of factors that can affect the <BR>gas mileage on a car from the drivers to the condition of the motor. Just trying to answer your question about the different mpg's.<BR> Replacing the o2's is one way to gain up to 2 mpg. I v'e read this but have not tried it <BR>yet. well, if you are noticing that your fuel economy is lacking...the best thing to do is to start fixing things that cause you to lose hp.<P>Spark plugs<BR>spark plug wires<BR>by some fuel injector cleaner<BR>check your pcv valve<BR>check for black/blue smoke at startup or acceleration or whenever<BR>ummm im sure there are some more, your ecu could be batty...who knows.<P>good luck!

The performance hasn't degraded noticeably and the mpg hasn't fluctuated significantly in the four years I've had the car. So, if it's any one thing, it would have to be something more subtle than a regular maintenance item. <P>My car has always run well, the most significant problem it's ever had was a blown valve-cover gasket that was repaired by the dealer about two years ago. I'm pretty in tune with my car and I would know if it had a little less umph than before.<P>I'm sure that my car isn't quite as fast now as it was while still new, but I'd be almost willing to bet that my particular car always got a little worse fuel mileage than identical models.<P>One other thing I can think of is tires and suspension. I know tires can cause a drastic difference, so maybe that's my problem. As for suspension, I know I need an upgrade there, since I haven't replaced and suspension parts and I doubt any had been replaced when I got the car at 50,000 miles. It's at 105,000 now btw.<P>You think I might have just answered my own question? What kinda tires does everyone here run? Anyone else with original suspension parts at similar mileage?

All original suspension here also. <BR> Tire pressure can play a role in mpg's.<BR> so what psi are you running front and rear?<BR> I'm sticking to my guns that replacing the oxygen sensors can return 1-2 mpg's if they have never been done and you have over 100k<BR> You could just be a lead foot <BR>Andy P. 93 GS

on my previous MX-3 RS my mpg dropped from 280 to 200 and I took it to the dealer and the tuned it up and cleaned the throttlebody - they said it was dirty. the mpg returned to normal after that.
