Question - 96 2.5 v6 in 92 mx3
hi guys, I need your help, ASAP. I looked at the engine swap links, but couldn't find anything in details about this. (i mean they are useful, but..) I got a problem: iam buying an mx3 with a 96 2.5 v6 in it from Probe, and it still has stock 1.8 Ecu and VAF, the car doesn't run good, it needs some work. Do I have to upgrade to Probe ECU, and if yes, then what year? cause someone was saying that 96 and on 2.5's have OBD II, which have 4 oxygen sensors, and then i have a problem...(mx3s have only 2 oxygen sensors (correct me if iam wrong) what should i do? also can i use 1.8 or 2.5 exhaust manifolds? some people are having trouble with 2.5 manifolds. what intake manifold can i use (i know i can use 1.8 ) , but what are other types of curved neck manifolds? Also can i put in pre 96 ECU, with obd I
need help, thanks in advance

Re: Question - 96 2.5 v6 in 92 mx3
I would say use a ECU from a 93,94,95 probe, 626 or MX-6 and use the 1.8 ex. mannys so that the down pipes line up and like you said only 2 o2 sensor (thoses suckers are expensive) if it runs like s--- there might be ohter probs the 1.8 ECU should run it fine you just wont get the max power out of the engine
And use the probe intake manny

Re: Question - 96 2.5 v6 in 92 mx3
You can use the intake manifold and ECU from the 1.8 or the 2.5. You need the VAF from the 2.5 IMHO.
If you can fit the intake manifold from the 2.5, use it. You may have to move the battery/brake cylinder a mite, but it should fit (at least in a 323 engine bay it fits and that's with a turbo too).
The intake manifold from the KL03 has much larger runners. Use it if you can.
If you can get the 2.5 ECU, that will run richer/be helpful later on when/if you open up your intake/exhaust/add power adders.

I bought this mx3 today with 2.5, and it needs tonn of work.
also how did u move the brake cylinder? i don't think it's possible in an mx3. do u have any pics of the engine bay? thanks

the Kl03 will fit in the mx-3My Site
Second pic down thats my car with the 2.5 03 in it looks like the 1.8 but the neck is straighter(but not straight) and the runners are thicker
