Need a swift answer if anyone can tell me
I'm going to tackle fixing my own car instead of taking it to the mechanic and throwing away an extra $300. I realize I need a good manual to do this. Chilton's has been suggested, but I'm wondering exactly which manual will cover everything I'll ever need to know about the car? Or will I have to buy separate manuals for different areas of the car? Can anyone give me some info in the next day or so? I'd really appreciate it!!!!

I didn't know that there was an ONLINE shop manual! As far as what I'm going to be doing to the car........right now, I need to replace the water pump, timing belt and plug wires. I've already purchased all the parts, I just need the instructions. I'm really apprehensive about the timing belt, though, so any advice would be much appreciated!
I know Chilton's is combined with some other cars, but I've found two or three manuals that include the mx-3. Which one those is more oriented toward the mx-3, in your opinion. If I'm going to go ahead and buy one to keep with the car at all times, which one should I invest in?
[This message has been edited by HeatherChellette (edited August 22, 2001).]

I have used the Chilton book to replace my TIming and Water pump. It had showed me everything I needed. Just remember to mark the cam wheels while the Timing belt is still on. Mark a straight up / down line on the cam wheel(s) because when you take of the timing belt, you may notice the cam will move back or forth. It took me about 4 hours to do, just remember the order you take things off. GOod Luck, CHris

Problem with the online shop manual, guys. =( It's for 94-95, and mine is a 93GS. Do you know if the water pump and the timing belt layout/hookup/installation are the same in the 93 as in the 95?
One more thing, there's a guy in the buy/sell forum with a 94 complete shop manual for sale. I guess what I'm asking is if the manual is a 94, is it specifically for a 94 mx-3 or can it also be used for a 93, specifically the GS model?
[This message has been edited by HeatherChellette (edited August 22, 2001).]

The official Mazda shop manuals cover both 4cyl and V6 models.
As far as I can tell, a 94 manual will work fine for your 93. I have a 93 manual, and I have found no differences between that and Jeff's 95 manual.
------------------
David Coleman- Moderator
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition
V6 engine info | KL FAQ | ECU reprogramming | K series Image cache | Probetalk Archive Search
