Double DIN to Single DIN

Post by mistahmoogle »

i bought my car used ('95 RS) and the previous owner had a crappy double DIN deck in there. i took that out and now i got a single DIN deck. the only problem is that i can't keep the deck on the top DIN. in other words, i think the previous owner cut and removed stuff in the stereo bay and now the deck can't be put cleanly on the top DIN. putting in a pocket underneath helps a little, but my deck points up a bit, since the back of the deck doesn't have anything to rest on. (the shelf slopes down towards the back)

so can anyone tell me what parts i need to get everything back to normal with a single DIN deck on top and a pocket on the bottom? i don't know what the stereo bay is supposed to look like, since mine is all messed up.

here are some pics of my stereo bay. sorry if they're not any good. all those wires from my deck kept getting in the way. oh, and that plastic thing going down the middle, i'm pretty sure its broken, because there's gap there where the wires are blocking.

You could put the deck on the bottom and just put that mazda pocket on the top.

or

Go to the junk yard, and source the whole mounting braket. It all comes out it one peice after you remove the trim.

I'm sure someone will be parting out an mx-3 soon, so check with them. :freak:
