high level filter?

Hello

I have a 93 GS SE with the twin cassette/cd deck. I want to keep the same deck since I like the stock look and add a sub and an amp. Will this work with a high level filter or will I get to much interference?
Also I was told there might be a factory amp on the SE model. Is this treu?

I'm pretty sure no MX-3 came with an amplified system. I think the most they got was a cd player and a tape deck.

Adding an amp and sub is a great upgrade. Most amps come with a built on frequency filter, low pass or hight pass. And if your amp has the option of high level input - sure you can keep your stock deck. I would just get the signal from the rear speakers, and run it into your amp.

Thanks. So will there be a popping/ cracking noise using a stock deck and an amp and sub and will it sound decent?

Sure it will sound decent. Just use a speaker wire to rca converter, some good rca's, and your set. Sound will depend on your installation more than your equipment.

There is no real popping noise or crackling when doing it high level.
The only pop you will get is when the amp turns-on or off, because most people hook up the amps turn-on to the accessory wire being the stock deck. Not a bad thing, just got to get use to it.

I've told (haven't done it yet, as I just put in an aftermarket deck to get rid of the problem), that putting an inline capacitor on the turn-on wire, will solve the problem. Just have to find the size of cap that will allow the amp to just turn-on, without the pop.
