Amplifier Mounting

I've read some posts about people mounting the amp on the back of the back seat.

Is the wood in the back seat thick enough for that? I want it to be very secure.

Also, how is a good way to mount the sub in the trunk?

I want it very secure as well. If a smash and grab ever happens (knocks on wood that it doesn't) I want to make it hard to just grab the stuff and take off.

I've had my amp attached to the back of the seat and it works just fine. Also, theres a piece of wood that covers the spare tire well, that works just as well. Right now I just went out and bought a piece of steel across the rear stockspeakers and placing the amp on that

Mounted my amp and the cap on the back of the seat. Just screwed them into the metal brackets.

After you can put some solder into the head of the screw, that way you can't just use a screw driver to remove the amp.

My sub box is too big to remove :p

Ok so I'll screw the amp into the back seat.

Just use self tapping screws I guess? Or do I have to drill it?

Hmm I still gotta find a way to mount the sub box.

I don't want to drill a million screws into it and have it fall apart or something. It's a q-logic box of 5/8" MDF.

mount the sub box? you mean to the floor? if you do then heres your anwser. You have two options, one proffesional, and one amature.

Both of them involve the piece of wood that goes over top of the spare tire well (which you should replace for a full piece square, not the wierd cut they have) but anyway

Amature (what i have for now, i was lazy)

Just get two L brackets from the hardware store.
Then screw them into the back of the sub box, one on each side, then screw them into the wood over the spare tire well. It holds it perfectly fine. It is still possible to steal though.

the Proffesional and UNTHIEVABLE way.

Go inside your sub box, run screws down into the wood covering your spare tire well.

This not only hold the box, but since the screws can't be seen or gotten to, DETERS thieves ALOT.

Yeah I definitely want to replace that piece of wood that covers the spare tire. Mine's cracked anyway.

Shoud I just use some plywood?

What kind of screws should I use?

i took my flimsy cracked peice of crap wood out and replaced with MDF..all i did was trace out the back carpet area to a peaice of MDF and then cut out and mount it to existing screw holes in the trunk and then mount my box to the peice of MDF...going inside the box and screwing it down to the MDF...now try and lift that out!!! might as well steal the whole car lol!

Be careful where you drill around there....There is a gas tank, lines, and other wires back there But I like the sound of things
