need opinions please!

Post by myway326 »

I have a 92 GS and have pioneer rev components in the front and pioneer rev 2 ways in the rear. yet to be installed, i have an alpine type s that runs at 200 rms in the ported box. I am not to sure as to what amp would be rite, as i want an amp that will power my whole system. a friend told me about the alpine mrv-f450 which runs 50x4 + 200x1. any opinions on either this amp, or any other amps that would power a whole setup?
also, how important is it to dynamat the trunk n doors of our mx's? t

unless you really want to amp the rears... i would just get a very powerful 4-channel amp and use it run the fronts and the sub... you shouldnt need that much power for rear fill.

I would try to give the sub about 300rms... so you dont have to run the amp so hard (speakers hate distortion).

the type s is a single voice coil Right? so that mean that you have to consider that you can only run at 4 ohms and not 2 like most power ratings are if you just want one amp for all then i would say go wit the alpine. but your best bet is lto go wit two amps one for your subs and one for your componets a four channel. make sure that the power rms is in 4 ohms not 2 cause thats how they fool you wit power ratings

Thats really funny, I am a product specialist for Pioneer electronics, but in my pre-pioneer days I owned alot of alpine, I also have that sub, (it sounds damn good in the MX3) But you definately want to run power to all of the REV series speakers. They are fantastic speakers, but they are power hungry. If you have run your sub in the past, that thing is really efficient so you will do fine with the alpine amp. Of course you could wait about a month and Pioneer's new D class monoblock amp will be available, as will the rest of our amp line.

I recommend a JBL BP150.1 Amplifier for you're Alpine Type-S 200rms sub. This will provide 150rms @ 2ohms (1ohm stable). Iv'e got a JBL PX300.1 and a JBL BP600.1, i HIGHLY recommend these amps!

Iv'e had my system in for a good 3-4 months now with no dynamat what-so-ever and i get next to zero annoying little sounds that piss yah off when the bass hits. So id' have to say, dynamat isn't all that important...unless you're gonna be in contests.
