Stereo does not work..
Hello, I appologize for this post sounding retarded, but when it comes to wiring, I AM RETARDED. My factory deck does not work. When I bought my 95 GS, it had no motor, no tires, dents and so on. It was in bad shape. I bought a Jspec 1.8 and instaled it. Everything worked fine for a while, but then the stereo just died. It has not worked since. The only thing that is weird, which is what my real questin is. Does the air conditioning have an affect on my stereo not working, some kind of connection or relay? Because sometimes when I have my a/c on (always when I have it on for a long time) the stereo comes on in a way where its just making static sound, but I cannot change the channel or even turn it off. And at the same time there is like a loud popping and squeeling sound comming out of the speakers. The only way to stop it is to stop and disconnect the battery. I 'm sorry for sounding so stupid, but i don't know anything about auto electrical. Any tips or advise on what this problem might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, and sorry for the long post.

Re: Stereo does not work..
Thanks for the reply. Ur saying to just change the deck only inside to see if the wireing in the dash is ok? Or one of those nests of wires running to the ECU under the hood? How do you know whats wrong if all the fuses look ok, and I have no idea what sensors and wire's are for what, or even how to tell is the wire is ok? Well thanks for making my retarded post not sound so retarded. lol..

Re: Stereo does not work..
Does anyone have any idea what to look for in finding what the problem is with my factory stereo? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if I'm looking for a bad connection or broken wire. Maybe a wire thats no grounded? Thanks...

honestly dude, all that comes to my mind is you popped your stereo somehow. nothing else seems to be wrong; you didnt mention if you have changed anything, and AC will not affect the stereo in anyway i know of. so all i can suggest you is drop by my house and i have a spare stereo, its yours free, I will help you install it too.
cant help you in any other way bro.

Re: Stereo does not work..
Wow, thanks for the offer and the reply. that's very generouse man. I would deffinately like to take you up on that offer. Along the lines of the stereo, it's not blown, because I can't even turn it on, I only used the stereo twice since I've had the car and it was fine (this was after engine swap). The old owner said the stereo was fine before my engine swap, and when I tried it it was fine. then I did'nt use it for a while, so one day I tried to turnm it on and it did'nt work. Then I noticed when I leave my a/c on for a while the stereo gets power, but I cant control it, can't turn it off, and it's making a squeeling funny noise from the speakers. The only way to stop that is to disconnect the battry. I'm thinking I hooked something up under the hood in-correctly when we put the other motor. Maybe some wire or ground is disconnected or broken? Well I don't know. But let me know where your located and when you got some time. Thanks again...

Re: Stereo does not work..
From the sounds of it your deck is done. If you can't turn it on your power switch inside the deck is probably fried. But if you are adiment about your deck not being blown the first thing to do is remove it. Get yourself a digital meter and test the 12V input see what voltage it measures should be between 11.5 and 13V. Then check your accesory wire make sure it is 12V or there abouts. If there is power to both then it is your deck. If the power levels are low than you will want to check both your battery and your charging system

Re: Stereo does not work..
Thanks for the replies. I actually just took th stock stereo out yesterday. I could'nt find the problem. I think you guys are right. It seems to be only the deck. A little wierd caus I almost never used it. But now I'm just going to try and find a replacement stock MX3 deck. I was thinking of getting aftermarket but I don't want to cut all the wires, and if I get another stock deck than I can just plug it in and it's installed. Also I don't know the wirring to connect with an aftermarket deck. PS, anyone selling thier aftermarket deck IM INTERESTED. Thanks...
