But i've never see it done.
Nice job so far Mnemonic! What you planning for the actual system (specs and unit)? I really, really like that idea, actually a few ideas just poped in my head that would make it better (IMO), but you would have to redo it, so im not gonna bother and put idea's in your head and you second guess your idea

quote:
Originally posted by BumpNGlow:
I was working on one for a long time... just getting the system up and stripped down to a fast boot up time... but I got lazy and now I'm heading off to college where I won't get a chance to finish it... maybe on day

Just to mention, on my system, im running tablet XP Pro, i can go from off to resume from hibernation in under 20seconds (if i had a watch, i'd time it). The nice thing, i set (through power options) as my power button to put the pc in hibernation, so it stop the pc where it is. So when i start it up, it resums from where i left off, including where is was in my winamp playlist and to the second to where it was in the current song.
So, i press the power button when i stop, or even as im, say just down the street, takes about 15-20 seconds to save the settings for hibernation and shut off. What i can also do is just press the button as im getting out of the car, and since its ATX, i press the power button and turn off the monitor (if its on), and it shuts down and turn off by itself, no need to babysit it.
When i get into the car, i start my car, turn on the carpc, and before and as im just pull out of the parking lot, it starts up and continues off where i left off, so i dont need to worry about loading winamp, my playlist and trying to find where i left off. And with 2 touches (i would say clicks, but i have a touchscreen) i can re-randomise my playlist.
[ August 20, 2003: Message edited by: Nd4SpdSe ]
