Unlocking Code for Stock Stereo

Post by Stinco »

Hy Everybody!
Please help me out....
My stereo locked up (do not ask me why) and among all the procedures in the "car stereo" section the c seems to work until the poin I have to enter the code.
1414 does not appear to be the right one.
My stereo is the one in the bottom left corner of the picture.
Mazda dealers asked me 40$ (!!!!) to input the code: isn't it too much? Especially considering that if the stereo won't work they would not give me back even a dime....
Is there a code generator I need? Is there a "general" code?
By the way, the msg I get is a flashing "err".
Thank you, Paolo.

That your experiencing is the stereo built in anti-theft device. Whenever the stereo is remover from the power suply (Or the batter is disconnected for that matter) the stereo will lock up until you enter the security code in it. Unless you put the code in to begin with (Which I hope you did, if not did the person you bought the car from do it?) its going to be impossible to find out what the code is. I dont know if mazda has a "Master Code" for all there stock stereo's but before you pay them the $40 ask them if thats the case. Otherwise they aint gonna be able to get it working either. You might end up buying a new one.
I saw a street sign yesterday that said Caution! Children playing! so I slowed down. Then I thought Wait! I'm not afraid of children!

No, Mazda can reprogram it. You'll have to send it in. You'll need to send proof that you own it. You should just buy a stock stereo on Ebay, it will cost you like $15+shipping. If that's what you want, that's the easiest and cheapest alternative.

I would also mention that you can get an aftermarket stereo that still looks like a stock stereo. With big knobs and all instead of buttons. JCWhitney sells them I know.

I took my stock stereo today to try and install a new stereo, but I couldn't so I installed the stock stereo back... no lock up.
