lol, ok. How could his wireing job result in his head unit burning out later on down the road?!?!?

Is it not 150Watts??!!?! It's stuff like above that screws me up.
The amp is here http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/prodde ... eptid=9

no no guys i didnt say to get a 200x2 rms amp...i said 'for example' to give you a general idea of what kind of amp to look for meaning get one where it gives good rms, not good peak power.

The max watts is for the MONO setting (600x1). Most people use that setting with their subs. I wouldnt recommend that for your particular application

Re: Infinity Kappa speakers are distorting! Need Advise...
UPDATE: I brought my car into 'Toms Car Audio' today and he fixed it up for $20 bucks canadian :].
He said it was a bad ground. He also put another fuse on the 10guage wire i had coming from the battery directly to the deck. The deck i got called for the head unit to be connected DIRECLTY to the battery. I don't know why he put another fuse on, because the head unit had a fuse thing build into the wire coming out of the deck.
Anyhow, the system pounds now! Now i just need to find otu what AMP would be best for my current setup...HINT HINT Help :\
Oh ya! He said the stock wireing is just fine for my application. So i left it as stock...
[ August 09, 2002: Message edited by: zytariuk ]

Its too damn expensive and you wont need that much shielding with this small amp.
Congrats on getting things workin bro

Re: Infinity Kappa speakers are distorting! Need Advise...
What you can do ZY, if the amp pumps to much power to the speakers, is hook the speakers up in "series". This where you hook up two speakers on half a channel.
Heres a picture:
Left Right
+ - + -
\ \ / /
\ \________________/ /
\ /
\ /
\_______ ________/
\ /
+ -
AMP
This will setup more resistance to the speakers, therefore cut down on power.
No change is sound quality, unless the watts are drasticlly below RMS. However, you will not have the right and left sound difference, unless you hook up more speakers.
Any questions or ansewers, please reply.

Sorry, I didn't know my drawing would get messed up, so here it is in words.
You take the positive from the left speaker and hook if up to the positive on the amp.
You take the negitive from the right speaker and hook it up to the amp.
Then you take the neg from the left and pos from the right, and hook them together.

It really is only neccesary for multiple speakers on one channel, or subs.

UPDATE! I ended up selling my KAPPA52.5I 5-1/4" 2 way multielement speaker pair for $150.00 CAN to a friend of mine and bought...
REAR
Model/Make:
KAPPA692.5I 6 x 9 2-way multielement loudspeaker pair pair
Power Handling, RMS:110 Watts
Power Handling, Peak:330 Watts
<A HREF="http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio ... We then traced out the speakers and slipped them in. In total it took about 4 hours!
It took so long because of all the measurements we took to make 100% sure the speakers were not offset by even the slightest amount.
We have havn't wired up the rear speakers yet ;(. It was like 1:00am and pissing rain outside when we finally finished the actual construction! Should have em' hooked up within the next couple days.
P.S: I've got pictures!!!! I'll post em' within the next couple weeks.
[ August 15, 2002: Message edited by: zytariuk ]

Re: Infinity Kappa speakers are distorting! Need Advise...
You always want to mount the speaker to the most rigid surface possiple, also make sure there are no air leaks between the front and rear of the speaker basket. Any air leaks will ruin the low frequency of any speaker. And with 6"x9"s you want to use them to their potential, meaning low to high frequencies. :p
