Do it yourself sub box
Ok I'm thinking of buying 2 8" audiobahn sub. Should I go for an already made box or do it myself and how?
------------------
Brainless
93 Red RS
geocities.com/j_micho (last update 07-09-2001)

well, if you're asking "how" that means you should buy one already built. You have to have them at the specified air space and they have to be air tight. If you're good with wood, go buy some 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard) and get on audiobahn's website to find the air space needed, and use them as guide lines.
~Ryan~

Don't forget to use the Liquid Nail when putting the box together for all the cracks and crevises. Just a reminder. ![Image](http://www.mx-3.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Re: Do it yourself sub box
I made a box for 2 JL 10W-1 (10 inch) subs and it is remarkably small. I went to JL's website and got the recommended dimensions for the box. Since there are 2 10's. I just doubled the width and left all the other dimensions the same. This will work because since it is a divided box, it is esentially just 2 single boxes sitting beside eachother. Once I had all the recommended measurments, I measured the hatch area of the MX-3 and the box dimensions were almost EXACTLY what I needed. My box is 36x11x10.5 (widthxheightxdepth). Check out this link: http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/ ... mal.pdf
At any rate, this box takes up very little space and sounds great. I have 4 Fosgate 6.5 inch speakers in the car (replaced the factory ones) as well as the 2 10's. I am using a Punch 250aII amp to drive the subs. My amp was tested at the factory and it puts out almost 400W (Peak).
