Re the age and spec of the car.
It's a 97 spec UK car, likr mine but with with optional leather.
I just got the 97 UK range brochure off e-bay - If I scan it do you think it could be posted here without Mazda complaining ?

Re: KLZE into a ODBII car
Perhaps it would Ian, but the big advantage of custom management is that once it's paid for it's then (relatively) cheap to adapt to ANY other mods you want to do.

Re: KLZE into a ODBII car
Custom engine management (like Motec) would work but would probably be very expensive. Costs in the UK for a turbo car come in at about £2500.
You may well be able to find something cheaper, if you have the budget it's got to be the best solution.

Re: turbo specs Q
I'm not sure what you mean by one turbo being more efficient. A single turbo might be able to produce more power but it will be at the expense of power at low revs. That sort of 'wall of torque' power delivery is not a lot of use on a FWD car unless you run a tight diff and only drive in straight ...

Re: turbo specs Q
OK what I should have said is that with correct selection a T3 can make 330bhp very easily.
The point is that by selecting a turbo that is better matched to the output you want to end up with (and lets face it, what you can put down through the wheels of a FWD car) you'll get better driveability ...

I live in Bury St Edmunds, work in Littleport.
MX is my sensible car, very smooth and well specced, it just feels very slow after getting out of my Integrale !

Re: turbo specs Q
T3 is good for 330bhp - why would you want a bigger t3/t4 hybred ?
Two T1.5 from something like a Focus diesel might be interesting though.

Re: 1.8 vs. 2.5 Transmission
21.9mpg/000 rpm means 4100 rpm at 90 instead of 5000 or so - that's a pretty big difference.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to get hold of a 626 tranny when I do my 2.5 swap as I reckon it'll make the car far better - particularly for my long commute.

It's worth keeping an eye out on E-bay.
I picked up both volumes of the shop manual for only £20. You could also buy them from any Mazda dealer for about £60

Ian may well have been talking about the UK spec Probe which has the same overall gearing as an MX-6 or 626.

Re: which koni sports struts should i get!!!!!!!
It's interesting that in the application list the 323 is the same as for the MX-3 EXCLUDING the GTX & Turbo.
There are almost certainly other inserts (in Koni sport and other makes) that will physically fit but it's a big job making sure that the bump/rebound rates are suited to our cars.

$1200 ???
£485+ tax in the UK. Even at the stupid exchange rate that's saving you more than the carriage.
