Re: which koni sports struts should i get!!!!!!!
There is no such thing as Koni sport struts for the Mx3.
You have the Koni red special strut, wich is adjustable.

Part numbers are 86-2442 Front & 86-2443-Rear
(in the UK I assume US / Canada are the same).
Note they are inserts so will require a bit of work to fit - fairly simple, or cheap for a mechanic to do if you are not confident.

these are sports not specials? i know luc of srd has koni sports, i doubt he painted them yellow cuz hes running pretty high spring rate on his mx3Originally posted by HFStuart:

koni yellows = koni sports
the ones in the picture are most likely a Honda application, not what you'll get.

Re: which koni sports struts should i get!!!!!!!
obviously not the ones in the picture. luc has koni sports prepared by truechoice so something obviously can be fitted to our strut body that will be able to dampen higher spring rates. im wondering what koni sports were fitted to luc's car. maybe the koni sports for the 323 can fit. anyone know if 323's use the same struts or if they can? dont the stb's fit on our cars? the vr4gtx brake upgrade is originaly done on the 323 so im guessing those have a pretty good chance of fitting.Originally posted by ProtegeSTS:

anyway, ive asked a koni tech if he can help me check the part numbers to see if they are sports and possibly available to us over here. then again, most front upper strut mounts are interchangable between many mazda's and for it to fit would only require the insert to fit in the strut body and the top hole can be enlarged if needs be but probably not. ioono tho, im no koni tech.
my jumbled cents all in one piggy bank. i dont understand why im so interested in this stuff still... only thing i want is bushings and camber bolts.
Re: which koni sports struts should i get!!!!!!!
theres the reply... so anyone knowsif the struts from the 323 gtx are interchangable with the mx3. those are sports. The part numbers that I saw on this thread were the 86-2442 and 86-2443. Theya re the parts that we do stock and sell here for the MX3 and they are the internally adjustable (compress-to-adjust) red KONI Special kind and not yellow Sports. Here is the link of the page to our site, just scroll down until you find it. http://www.koni-na.com/display...tinue
Any KONI dealer int he US like Tire Rack, shox.com, Summit Racing, etc. can get them for you. I already knew about these and theya re the units that we don't sell many of as I have never heard much interest in them. Upon my return to the office, I was going to have one of our R&D technicians take the dimensions from these units and then compare them to any other inserts sold the Europe or the rest of the world especially for Mazdas, Ford, Kias, etc. and see if there by chance be a similar Sport insert the is a fit but somehow has not been matched up. If they fit dimensionally (rare) then we'd check the valvings and see how that matches. If all signs are good, then we get a set and test fit them on a car to confirm that it is proper. There is a small chance but maybe we could find an externally adjustable or more aggressively valved unit that would be proper. If so, the the core MX3 group might have a more exciting option. I'll get the ball rolling when I get back early next week.

if 2g protege struts fit and are sports then it should be the 323 ones that can be used rite? i got the pic above from koni site. it doesnt list 2g pro stuff but im assuming since u say it works, it will fit. i had no idea that koni made universal sports...

Re: which koni sports struts should i get!!!!!!!
It's interesting that in the application list the 323 is the same as for the MX-3 EXCLUDING the GTX & Turbo.
There are almost certainly other inserts (in Koni sport and other makes) that will physically fit but it's a big job making sure that the bump/rebound rates are suited to our cars.
Leda could re-valve one of their designs to suit but it would be an expensive ($2000+) job.
