I recently had two MX-3's at once, both GS with the stock K8. They both got a consistent 30 mpg highway, and about 25 mpg around town.
One is gone now, and I just put a KLZE in the other. I haven't gone through a tank yet, but I'm just hoping for 23 mpg around town.

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Thanks SuperK Yes, the end result is completely worth it! I haven't had a chance to open it up much yet, because I drove it to emissions with the shift linkage spot welded together and I didn't want that to snap, but I could just feel that torque. The K8 just had all of those lulls in power just whe...

It has a KL-36 computer in it and is running well with the stock O2 sensors. Right now it's back in the shop getting the linkage fixed (was messed up by last...

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Yeah, I could replace the ECU and do other simple things, but they didn't charge me for that. Now I have to get the shifter fixed. The last incredible garage managed to destroy it and then "fix" it with a random hardware store part and some self-tapping screws. I could have done better tha...

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
They put the KL-36 in and apparently the check engine light is off........even for the O2 sensors and the Knock sensor. Car is still running poorly. It may be gas that has gone bad from sitting too long, plus the fact that the tank is almost empty???????? Gonna put some gas in it tomorrow and run it...

Yay! I got the KL-36 ECU. I'll be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Fingers are crossed, but I'm nervous.

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
OK, after investigating, we're talking air flow meters. I should have never "fixed" my perfectly running MX-3. I'm pretty scared about this now. Incredible $ drain. I'm just hoping to drive my car again. I appreciate all of the help, but I still wish that somebody with extensive KLZE swap ...

And JE50 is a term that I'm also unfamiliar with.
Holy crap, this thing smells like it's running rich though.

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Forgive me, but what is a KL02 VAF? And if I need one, where might I look for one?

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Ordered the KL-36 computer. I am also apparently showing both 02 sensor codes and a knock sensor code.
I don't know which sensors to get for the KLZE. I looked at NGK's site and it looks like 2.5 sensors in general are different than 1.8 sensors.

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Millenia intake is in now. Car is running, but now I have the EGR valve problem. The check engine light is on because of the EGR. If I get the KL-31 or KL-36 computer, will this go away? I need to get the car through emissions. Any advice out there? Thanks!!! Also, If I get the KL-31/36 computer, wi...

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
Thanks for all of the replies. Got the car, and took it to another garage. Apparently the distributor (from the 1.8) was bad. Got a new one and now I have spark. Currently looking for Intake from a 1996 Millenia, might have found it locally in AZ. My computer said something like KL 84???? if I remem...

Re: KLZE swap help desperately needed - Phoenix AZ
I appreciate the responses. Actually, I was looking for the one that fit directly into my car, not just the one with the most power, so I did want the curved neck. I don't have immediate access to the car, and on top of that, I'm not much of a mechanic, so I can't answer some these questions. My car...
