Re: Valk's $500 Daily beater
picked up a strut compressor this weekend and did the redneck lowering of the front. only took off half a coil on the top and the bottom to try it out. of course, i didnt measure the ride height before so i cant really tell how much it dropped. it did however used to sit higher in the front than the...

Re: Valk's $500 Daily beater
so i lifted both cars today and took a strut off the front of each to compare. at first glance they look close enough that they should work. the struts bolt up at both ends but the length of the msp strut is significantly longer than the mx3 strut. I dont think this could be made to work. I could im...

Re: Valk's $500 Daily beater
Accomplished a few little things today. got my second set of headlights clear coated. ill polish them up a little better in a day or so. also finished the front splitter. it still has chips and stuff but not really a big deal. still have to polish the run out of the bumper as well so ill just give a...

Re: Valk's $500 Daily beater
First project was to obviously wash the car and clean it up. its from this that i really found what a gem it was for $500 and worth spending a little effort to save. i dont have a lot of money, but i have some time and manual skills by trade as a millwork finisher. im not an autobody man, but most o...

Valk's $500 Daily beater
Hey all. ive been around here for a little while, trying to rebuild my wifes old 1992 mx3 gs model. she really ran that car into the ground and we replaced it in feb 2014 with a 2003 protege esgt. awesome car that was for $2700 i paid for it. I personally own a 2003 Mazdaspeed protege which is my ma...

WTB: lowering springs, must ship to canada
Looking for eibach ideally, but ill take h&r and similar springs. 1.5ish drop. will consider springs on low mileage aftermarket struts but shipping might suck. not willing to spend more than $150 for used springs.
shipping to v8y3k4 canada.

Re: BJ strut springs on mx3?
did you happen to know the hole center measurements for the different strut tops? i was thinking of a way to use the springs with caps but the easiest way would probably be just to redrill the bolt holes in the strut tower. could always add additional metal if strength is an issue but i doubt it if ...

Re: BJ strut springs on mx3?
Could I not simply measure the difference in spring diameters and just machine some aluminum hats on my cnc? If its a seating problem, why not justmake spring hats; use a bj strut, bg strut mount and shim the knuckle as needed? I know the aluminum woildnt cost a lot and solidwords/ machine time is f...

Re: BJ strut springs on mx3?
well this might seem like a silly question but you say the upper strut mounts are the primary problem, is there enough material left on the shock tower to just drill new holes for the strut mount? maybe add a steel plate for support and just make holes for the bj strut? im not too worried about havi...

Re: BJ strut springs on mx3?
well it saves me a weekend or more with two cars in peices. a shame as i like the drop and ride of the sportline springs. I guess ill have to wait for a set of used springs to pop up perhaps. or could i buy springs for another bg chassis car? like a zx2? id like to get a 2" drop or close to it ...

BJ strut springs on mx3?
a little curious what different things people have tried. im not really that interested in paying $500 for a set of eibach for this car.. but i have a set of sportlines on my BJ chassis protege. ive been reading around about a possible 5 bolt swap to the mx3 that could be done on the cheap, but for ...

Re: 1992 mx3 valve stem seals
i don't really need any more power out of it, its a beater daily driver til i get the msp back i just want it to be low slow and clean looking. ill have to think about the ebay projectors though. ive never been a fan of non oem lighting. but i have to admit the mx3 ones are less offensive than other...

Re: 1992 mx3 valve stem seals
so my 92 is gone. got towed away on saturday. got the 94 all cleaned up inside and out and once i fix the front bumper i could probably sell it for twice what i paid heh. ill see if i can afford some paint this weekend. bumper is already green so shouldn't take too much to bring the tint close. gott...
