Re: Temperature gauge weirdness

ok that's the one i'm trying to diagnose. (temp gauge sender). i have been told that the guage from the 4cyl is different from the 6cyl. i did some cross referencing and found the sensor/sending unit is the same for both the 1.6 and the 1.8. i took this guage from a 6cyl m/t (just the temp/fuel guag...

Re: Temperature gauge weirdness

ok, so to clarify, these specs are for the single-wire sensor that feeds the temp gauge? i guess i dont understand , that if it's a single-wire sensor, how you could put it in water and measure resistance. measure it against what? lol

Re: Temperature gauge weirdness

i'm definately hearing conflicting reports. does anybody know what the temp gauge sending unit is supposed to read when at operating temp?

Re: temp gauge help

ok, so i know i'm being a pain, but is the gauge different or is it the sensor that's different?

Re: temp gauge help

maybe i didnt make myself clear; i'm bad for that. the temp gauge came from a 1992 v6 m/t. i put the temp guage in my 1993 4cyl sohc a/t. the sensor in the engine is the correct one for the engine. i believe it's original to the 1.6 sohc. it reads 42 ohms when hot. is this correct?

Re: temp gauge help

sorry about the delayed reply; i'm not recieving notifications. so, the 42 ohm reading on the temp sensor is correct?

temp gauge help

the temp gauge in my 93 4cyl a/t hasnt worked for a long while. after overheating the car (after a faulty water pump install) i made it a priority to get it fixed. i bought a salvage gauge cluster from a 92 v6 gs m/t and switched the temp/fuel gauge. the fuel gauge seems to be fine, however the temp...

Re: Temperature gauge weirdness

did anybody ever find out why the junkyard temp gauge goes to the roof when you turn the key on? my sensor reads nothing when the car is cold, but reads about 42 ohms when at running temp
