Re: Best Struts

Brand-wise, Koni, KYB, Bilstein, & Tokico are the big players. Each brand has different levels of damping/adjustability.
Personally, on a tight budget, if you want damping adjustability, I'd suggest KYB AGX's. If you don't need adjustable, I'd say Bilstein. Although the bilstein may be more ...

Re: HP VS. TQ

The ZE has more torque than the 03 . . . The big difference is in where it makes the torque, and for how long. The higher horsepower rating means that it makes torque higher in the rpm band than the 03.

edited for clarity . . . .
[ November 20, 2001: Message edited by: Daemione ]

Re: Intake Question

NOS does a little more than just cool the air . . . .
There's more oxygen molecules in Nitrous Oxide than in the air, hence the increase in power. Intake charge cooling is more of a side-benefit.
The only difference between a wet & dry kit is when/how extra fuel is added.

Re: K series connecting rod specs

Thanks for the reply . . . .
If anyone has any of the aforementioned shop manuals handy, I'd appreciate someone checking those specs for me. I don't believe that info can be found on any of the online manuals.
And pretty OT, Dave, but I looked over your write-up on the KL ECU reprogramming. Some ...

Re: Monza Big-Bore Exhaust

For what it's worth . . . .
A larger muffler outlet will have little effect on exhaust flow - as the piping leading to it (if stock), is probably less than 2" in diameter & crush bent. Even an aftermarket cat-back exhaust should only be 2.25 or 2.5 inches in diameter (for a normally aspirated ...

Re: Immediate HELP!!!!

Sounds like a reasonable explanation for the noise.
A cheap, quick fix that might work is an exhaust repair kit that you can get at autozone or something.
Start her up, & feel underneath & around the exhaust (before it gets too hot) to see where the leak is. Usually a small hole or crack ...

Re: Highly recomend 2.5L swap

I'm not sure the 2.5 engine is much (if any) heavier than the stock 1.8. According to one of the tables around here, it has smaller dimensions. I'm not sure if that's accurate, though.
And I'm sure the potential of the 2.5 is a lot higher than the 1.8. Given the availability & low cost of the KL ...

Re: Highly recomend 2.5L swap

How much does a ZE intake manifold cost?
And is that a bolt-on affair for the 03 engine?
Seems like retrofitting an 03 would be cheaper than finding a ZE. But then, I'm new to the Mazda world . . . .

K series connecting rod specs

New to the board, so I apologize if there's a ready source for this info, but I haven't been able to find it.
Does anyone know the lengths of the connecting rods for different K series engines? (K8, KF, & KL)
Also, another quick question - what vehicles did the KF engine come in?
Thanks.
