Re: Is there hope for a slipping ATX?!
I've been thinking it over...is it possible to swap an ATX with an MTX with all the sensors and computer junk working together? I wouldn't need a new ECM would I?

Re: Is there hope for a slipping ATX?!
I'm afraid that's just not an option...I wish it were, but I just moved to a new state to a place w/o a garage, It's my only car and I am limited on funds. I would love to do some more work on this car but I just can't put any more serious dough into it. If the trans is no good, I'll have to scrap t...

Is there hope for a slipping ATX?!
Murphy's Law: If it can go wrong, it will go wrong. I've got a '95 1.6L Mx-3 with an ATX. The engine was on its way out last winter (Posted about it in 4-cyl forum) so I rebuilt it and I am currently at about 5000 miles. My worst fear for the entire time I was working on the engine was that t...

Re: '95 1.6L (B6) Rebuild - Houghton, MI
Found the problem. Pulled the head off and found these... http://stuweb.ee.mtu.edu/~jjschoen/thumbs/brokevalves.JPG The cylinder with the chipped valve had 15psi, though I don't know how it had any compression with that valve the way it is. The one to the right was the 0psi cylinder, the valves don'...

Its been slow, I was going to drain the oil but the jack that I was planning on using was covered with hydrolic fluid when I pulled it out of the case :x . Took off the hood, drained the coolant instead and started to label hoses, cables, etc. A friend of mine keeps saying that if I put the car high...

Re: Good Rebuild Kits!?
I just put it in the garage today after dealing with the shifter being stuck in park. I pulled the headcover and everything looked great, which was pretty disappointing. I was hoping that a valve was stuck open or something, but it looks like the problem is as serious as thought...Well, as this is h...

'95 1.6L (B6) Rebuild - Houghton, MI
Hey, I'm planning on fixing my wheels so I can drive it back home to MN when school gets out this year. I want to rebuild it to try to salvage my car and just to be able to tear into an engine myself. I've got the car set in the garage and I'll be tearing into it later this week to make sure that it...

Re: Good Rebuild Kits!?
Have you considered just swapping out the motor?... I've already read through a lot of the manuals since you pointed them out, Ryan, thanks. Normally I would like to swap out the motor, but I would like to dive further into this project and do as much as I can myself. I just rebuilt my 95 1.6. I bo...

Good Rebuild Kits!?
Hey all, I found out today that my '95 MX-3's 1.6L four-banger is actually a two-banger as I have a compression of 15 and 0 psi in shafts two and three (compared to 100 and 120 in one and four). I'm up at school and have a lot of time, a garage, (hopefully) enough money and thought that it would be ...
