Re: Hey guy's.. long time no see (and quick ?) (adjustable cams?
well, the 92 is the SOHC engine. I think everybody has been posting about the DOHC engine. The SOHC isn't too much different and will probably be a little less complicated. I'm not even sure the SOHC has HLAs. Someone fill me in on this.

well I'm no mechanic, but I have done a rebuild.
1. With the right tools you should be able to finish in a weekend.
2. Taking the timing belt off - really all you have to do is release tension on the tensioner than you will be able to slip off the belt, but to get to the tensioner you will have ...

Well, if you've never taken off a timing belt before, it will. It will save you A LOT of money though. New HLA's will cost about $250.

Re: start-up troubles
Update: I did the F/P to GND on the diagnostic box and the fuel pump did turn on. I had the fuel pump out of the tank so I know it turned on, but when I took off the jump to F/P and GND and cranked it, the fuel pump did not turn on? Shouldn't the fuel pump turn on when this happens? Is my relay bad ...

Re: starting problem
Sounds like a bad battery if the starter isn't that old and something is cracked. So when you turn the key to crank it, the starter might go for a sec then dies? If that is what is happening I would check the battery. You can take it to a car parts store and they can check it for you.

This way should be less expensive than actually buying ground wires from a company and it is the same or better quality.

Have you checked for spark and for fuel? Look at the online manual. It is great help. Check out this http://www.mx-3.com/manuals/showimg.php ... F1-020.gif

Re: Escort GT and Protege distributor WILL work in an MX3 RS
The disty for the 4 cyl mx-3 is different between the SOHC and the DOHC. I believe there are also two different types of BP distys (maybe more). You have to find the right BP disty to work in your mx-3. In other words not all BP distys will work in your mx-3. I know from experience.

well there is the B6 SOHC and the B6DOHC. The DOHC had VICS and the SOHC didn't. You might have the SOHC then.
