I have seen bad thermostats right out of a box.
For piece of mind and cheapness I would eliminated the thermostat.
U can check it with a thermometer on boiling water if u want
but i would replace it and eliminated it

Very true,
Check to make sure there is not two gaskets or if any of the old gasket material is still on the cooler.

AIC valve?
What is it? how do i check it?
My o2's have 152 000kms on them so i should replace them anyways.
But i want to check the other stuff as well.

Have you checked the oil pressure?
maybe u have excessive oil pressure casuing a leak, however in all likelyhood your oil light would be on ( if it is working properly).

Also, it is rare but the cooler can have a spilt in it is very hard to see.

I would take it off and check for any hairline ...

Up and down idle, running rich after warm up

So my mx-3 runs well until it warms up, then the idle goes all to hell. It jumps between 800-1200rpm. at idle and you can smell the bugger running rich plus its burning a s--- load of extra gas.

So far i have check the engine coolant temp- its got the proper resistance

Yep it is an interferece engine.
So guys change your timing belts. If over 150,000Km
At work I see alot of bent valves on stuff cuz of snapped timing belts.
Sometimes u can get away with it if the belt snaps in the right spot. However, if u have ever been at the end of a phone when you tell someone ...

Non Interference

I just read in one of the forums that that mx-3 v6 is non interference engine?

Is that true? cause many people have told me different and the shop manual says nothing about it.

Are u sure? I thought it was i changed my belt , tensoine pulleys because i thought it was one!

Code 03? HEI mod

I did the Hei mod on the car and now code 03 -distrib circuit - is present and the check engine light stays on in the car. So is this normal when doing the Hei mod? or is teir some way to fix it?

Did you do a cylinder leak down test.?This will pinpoint where your leak is before ripping the motor apart.

I just started my Hei mod today and didnt cut any wires so far. i just used the spilce connectors I will let u know how it works out. I just got to fire it up in a while!

Also i have access to a Snap on Avantage Diagnostic Scanner I will check what both are doing and let you all know whats on the ...
