How do I change obd2 to obd1?

I'm running a k8 ecu klo2 vac with a klze engine and it runs ok but I'm not satisfied. It has to run better with a 2.5 ecu. I track race the car And got a 14.4 quarter mile with a 2.5 60 ft time.. Not bad but there's gotta be more

I have a Ford probe ecu that's obd1. and I have a chip to go in it. But obviously when I plug it into my car it doesn't work because it's not obd1

How do I convert to Obd1? Is there a wire harness I buy on eBay ?

Is my idea be ideas or any opinions ? how do I do this?

What year is the car?? Also if it's OBD2 you'd more than likely have to swap the engine harness.

Get the car dyno'd. See what power it's ACTUALLY making. Check engine codes etc. You know a lot of people are converting to OBD2 to run a MAF setup. I think you can buy an OBD2 scanner on Ebay for less than $20 and it will tell you many things. AFR, codes, RPM etc. My friend used it on his WRX and bluetoothed to his phone. TONS of info.

I vote to keep your OBD2! The OBD1 chips aren't that amazing. I've been playing with mine via a program and I cannot adjust fuel no matter what I try. I can adjust timing and that has made things a little quicker but honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle to swap to OBD1.

Are you 100% sure about the level of information side of it? Because it seems like people can get plenty of detail and some real time data reading on probetalk. In either case, wouldn't it be 100x better than OBD1, where all you can do is see error codes blinking on a LED light?

MAF swapped OBD2 ecu is different then a stock OBD2 mx3 ecu.

I have played with stock mx3/probe/mx6 OBD2 cars. 95/96 is a big change over gap in OBD1 and OBD2. This OBD 1.5 isnt the same as true OBD2 compliant ECUs.

My OBD2 96 with ZE swapped in ran great using a KL02 vaf and new O2 sensors. The OBD2 ecu is definitely a step up from the OBD1 model.

In all honesty if I were you I`d ditch the VAF meter and do a MAF swap. One of the lads on PT in B.C dynoed his MX6 and it made 12-15 more WHP just with the swap (if you can trick the ecu into thinking it "has" all the sensors req'd it should make more hp/tq than that). The VAF meter is more restrictive than the MAF, plus the sock ecu is nowhere as efficient as the milly 1.
