AVIRA/MALWAREBYTES ANTIMALWARE/FIREFOX (please read)

Post by wednesdayslatest »

i used to use norton then realized it sucked, i used to use macaffee and that GAVE you viruses THEN i found a very good antivirus (although i dont pay for them) it was called panda antivirus it was great with a hacked version but that didnt last long they were too good. i almost gave in, and i bet theyre still up there now too they had a backdoor program free called panda cloud antivirus which was great again while it lasted then for a while i didnt use one and i went searching, i know AVAST is very popular but AVIRA is technically better and very popular as well i use the avira free and it works fine, i never even bothered getting the hacked full/pro version the free one works perfectly fine

although avira doesnt do everything (SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY was good for a while, unfortunately the only thing its good for now is the "immunization" of your files because the rest of it is obsolete) so i went looking for the best anti malware/spyware and there were others there was another good one but it wasnt as good as malwarebytes it was called SUPERantispyware it wasnt like thos fake spywares/antivirus that fake scans your computer much like the "virus" called windows xp antivirus 2000 or something like that

ive had an issue when you goto websites then somthing pops up locks your computer and gives you this bulls--- message telling you to get a prepaid dot credit card or student loads or telling you to pay for somthing that theyre telling you that you pirated and saying they have you ip and all that (which if you just unplug it will cut you off the net and you realize it was a picture put on fullscreen that WAS on the net so when you unplugged it it was the normal "i cant connect to the webpage") that was one of the worst it took me another computer and like 10 minutes and i had it fixed MALWAREBYTES solved all that and i never had a problem again i just let it run and block whatever it wants to block and never touch it lol

as for web browsing, innovation, customization, and security/privacy are big issues GOOGLE CHROME SUCKS some people say its faster it might be, but its not really my personal experience it handles java/shockwave/flash/ all the animated stuff like facebook video games and what not it loaded really slow and sometimes not at all when i use firefox its very sturdy, depending on the version they can be very stable and the features are great, the ADDONS are the best (let me just add EASY YOUTUBE VIDEO DOWNLOADER and DOWNLOAD HELPER are two GREAT addons for firefox and you should add them right away) firefox is very secure too they even have addons for security that track where your computer connects to so you know exactly what is going on (just because you have the info though doesnt mean you know or understand what it means lol)

well i just thought id mention all this for anyone like me that likes to just put the programs on let them auto update themselves and never touch them and never want to worry about anything again (well until the next best thing comes along that is lol) this is what i STRONGLY recommend to you

also if you like torrents/piratebay you might want to use the torrent handler "VUZE" and set up data encryption RC4 (basic data encryption just for your safety and not many programs have it i believe 3 if not maybe 5)

This is why I love my Macbook, I don't have to worry about this sort of stuff. Plus I research applications before installing them.

Just don't download stuff from sources you don't trust, and don't go to sites you don't trust. Especially any kind of site that offers free stuff or porn.

thing about mac is it might have a low level security feature built into its operating system but the truth of the matter is it CAN still get viruses. all you need to do is send a virus in another source code other then the mac so if its not mac language it wont understand it and it wont detect it your paying for the label, i hate mac for one very straight reason it is CLOSED source. meaning you cant do anything on it it operates on its own it doesnt do what YOU want it to do it does what it does and nothing more. also theyre very very stingy when it comes to their products and comparability. you get one apple product eventually you need to buy them all (so they say) also fyi apple well lets just call the company "apple of knowledge" really likes to spy on people since you cant change things then that pretty much means you cant disable exploit. there is no difference between the computers the hardware is the same basically its just the operating system thats the issue (dont get me wrong tho i love my ipod video and ipod touch for music but personally i just want peace of mind. you know that old saying if you want it done right you need to do it yourself haha

I don't know where you got Spybot is obsolete. I still use it on my customers' computers, and it performs flawlessly, just like Malwarebytes, so far, both being the best antivirus software in the market, as of today.

I agree about Firefox. I've used IE, Google Chrome, and Chromium, and they all suck. Firefox is the best.

But, in the end, the best defense against viruses is not to get them in the first place, sso, I don't have an antivirus in my computer anymore, and haven't had it for almost 4 years. I use Ubuntu instead of Windoze, and problem solved. I have purposefully DOWNLOADED viruses, WATCHED on the terminal how they downloaded, and studied them in my Ubuntu, yet never had the slightest problem. And NEVER, EVER missed Windoze compatibility at all.

So, no Mac here, Dell inspiron 1525, and no extra software to make up for my OS's defficiencies. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS FTW!!! :2thumbsup: 8)

That is a lot of rambling(@ OP).

As far as browsers go, it doesn't really matter all that much. Chrome vs Firefox is all about what you like the best. Being a brand whore is just limiting yourself, so don't proclaim the either one is better than the other. Personally I use chrome because it provides the most utility for me: my bookmarks are sync'd with my google account and since I have an android phone everything ties together very nicely.

For AVs, I personally don't use one both on my windows and linux install. The best antivirus is simply not being stupid. Periodically I will scan with MBAM from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ on windows like Inodoro, but I haven't been infected with anything for as long as I can remember. If you have doubts about software you need to use, either use a VM or a sandboxing program like sandboxie.

i have to say linux IS great i used it before in a networking class i took and i still have the knoppix disc i wanted to try the LINDOWS but never got around to it. i really might concider dual booting some linux os at some point i got a dell d630 with max ram 8GB with a 2.2 GHZ core two duo so i dont think processing will be a problem.

and the problem with spyboy and it is true because ive experienced it myself that it doesnt find everything really sometimes it didnt even help BUT like i said using it to protect your files still works flawlessly but for active scans its been considered obsolete this is for sure and im sad to say it because i loved spybot but like i said i use AVIRA and malware bytes both i have no problem windows xp windows vista (although id never say for someone to use that OS) and windows 7 but personally i like xp, when it comes to hacking cellphones and such windows 7 just doesnt cut it really the only thing that worked for me and my evo 4g was xp pro 32 bit i never had a single problem

but like the topic states avira/firefox and malware bytes is the best trio for your computer to be safe im always on the computer and i never have a problem, it almost feels like i have panda antivirus on here again, man i wish panda but im not spending any money on somthing that should be free in the first place

firefox has its own sync and if you have the firefox app like i do youll have no problem on your phone and personally i wouldnt trust google over Mozilla , like i said privacy

like i said before i didnt have one for the longest time but it comes down to it that its better to have it then not, especially when you have others going on your computer sometimes. its called idiotproofing the computer it runs in the background and doesnt bother me and updates on its own

vm? sandboxing huh? i just looked up the sandboxie i understand the concept but ive never heard of this type of thing before THAT is news to me. looks good but it really doesnt seem like i need it. i mean unless it will increase privacy unlike anything else but then id need a firewall like zonealarm which is too good for its own use itll block everything if you dont tell it not to
