Have you checked your grounds? One might be loose somewhere which could potentially cause the no spark.

did check my grounds there pretty good, i pulled a plug and it did spark apon cranking so im assuming i have spark.. but does the disty have its own ground? small wire in the part of the harness leading to the disty plugs
im not sure I have fuel tho..
also another question. is there any way i have have the disty out 180 degreeess? it only seems to go in one way.

Oh s--- I misread that about you getting spark.
I don't think the disty has its own ground wire though.
Maybe double check for your fuel? At the very least it's one thing we can discount if it's present.

very true im going to go swap the FPR from the K8 manifold so i know its working... and ill also be able to tell if I have fuel or not but that wont tell me if the injectors are firing or not.

It could be that you've got your fuel lines mixed? s--- I can't remember which side is which after pulling an engine haha.

ya know i should try switching the lines i didn't even think about that... would that really cause it not to start? i called in quits for the night gunna start up agien tomarro.. but i didn't get as much fuel out of the rail as i expected when i pulled it.

Switched the fuel lines still wont start, I did have the line backwards. Now im getting a code for the tps and bolth vris solinoids. Will the car not start with a bad tps?

I don't know about the TPS problem but for the VRIS problem, are your vacuum lines plumbed correctly?

ya im prett sure the solinoides are bad.. not 100% sure tho on that. but i only have 1 plugged in since I just wanted to get the motor broken in first befor i started making wires longer.
I went out and bought a compression tester and I only have 105psi on the 3 cyl in the front of the engine? shouldn't it be more like 180-210psi? I mean this is a freash rebuild so week compression at first should be expected at first till the motor starts and the new rings car wear into the honed walls, correct?
But so far this is what we got spark, fuel, and semi low compression.
I do have a question tho I took off the front valve cover to make sure when i put the cams back in the motor that I had lined up the marks 100% and they are. The only other thing I can think of is are the cam gears interchange able? and are they suposed to be on one head or the other? could I have switched them up and not have the timing markes be where they should? So could that make the timing not where it should be?

Died unless you gave it gas, hmmm. Was it misfiring? Spark plug wires are on the wrong way, massive air leak etc?
Disty can't be on the wrong way. Cam pulleys can be on backwards and still have correct markings but I am not sure about swapping the L and R camshaft pulleys.

If your using the K8 ECU and your cars disty then take that KL02 off the car and put the JE50 on. The KL02 will only work with a DE harness or a 96/97 MX3, period.

With the KL02 VAF your engine will run like crap.
Edit; misread about ECU

News to me, typically that combo works fairly well.

ya i hear ya. that combo is currently working for me.
Im not sure if your egr system is working or if you have it removed, but check to make sure the port at the back of tr motor is plugged.
