1.8 DOHC BP swap

Post by sway_528 »

I'm in the process of getting all the parts i need in order to swap a BP engine and i was wondering if there was a difference between the AT ecu and the MT ecu. also if anyone has a list of all the parts i will need I.E. wiring harness, ecu, motor mounts, VAF, etc. that would be helpful. thanks

Check the FAQ and it'll have a list of parts that you'll need for the swap

If your car is an ATX then you need an ATX ECU if its an MTX then you will need that. How old is your car? If it is 92-93 its really easy and straight forward. 94+ it gets a bit harder with wiring

Looking through your other post there is enough info there. but check the FAQ section

If you can find a donor car in the wrecking yard like a pick n pull this gets real easy and cheap. If you go with a DOHC motor which you can get out of a Protege LX, Escort GT, or a Kia Sophea you will want a BP10 ECU and the VAF that goes with that motor. you "can" use your VAF but it is smaller and restrictive and could potentially cause issues. If you get a Kia motor and trans the Kia trans is stronger than the others. motors are all the same minus the valve covers. you will need all the motor mounts and brackets as well. front, rear, engine, and trans.
