Going external coil, few ?'S

Post by Josh »

Well my car already has the HEI mod done and done correctly, so I want to finish the job. Going external coil

- Where do I buy the dizzy cap with the coil lead? I know some guys have made them but I know you can buy them as well.
- What vehicle do you buy plug wires for? or do you have to make your own coil lead?

4 banger stuff is easy, this is too, but figured I would ask before I spend too much time looking around. :)

Thanks

well ok noob (i always wanted to call a vetern MX3er that   )

The only premade cap was the PRD (probe racing develpment) cap i havent seen or heard of any other one.
It is TOO easy to just drill and put the MSD power tower on the cap and it comes with the spark wire that goes to the cap and the coil but be careful if you get the MSD blaster 2 or the "vibration" you will have to mod the wire you get with the power tower but the blaster 3 comes with a tower on it that is compatible with said wire. Also if you mod your own cap when its time for a tune up you just buy another cheap cap and use the same power tower over and over again.

ok well that makes sense. Having a GS like I always wanted has brought me over to the dark side so to speak

Someone told me a while back where to get one but I just could not remember. I would rather buy one, then mod mine but if I have to its not hard at all. I have a MSD Digital SCI and a Blaster 2 coil sitting around that I was planning on using on the RS but with the KL36 ecu the GS is running just a tad bit rich so I am upgrading the plugs and wires and figured I would just do everything all at once. so I wanted to cross my T's and dot my I's before i did it :)

Thanks for the info.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
