A/C issues

Post by _lithium_ »

Okay so I've been having issues with my A/C clutch not engaging on my 92 mx-3 GS and my brother said he changed the clutch before on it but used one from a straight 4 mx-3. It got to the point where he would have to lay down and hit it (car on and ac on) with a ratchet for it to engage but now it does nothing. What are the steps to remove this clutch and look at it? Is it pretty simple?

It's not in there, I checked there first. I also have a Chiltons manual for my car and it's not in there as well. A lot of the information I find says something about it's not supported by self-repair manuals and is to be done by EPA certified (I think that was the name) mechanics only.

Personally I'd check to see if there's oil in the compressor and if it's the right oil, you don't want to mix oils. New PAG oils are backwards compatible.
