Weird problem again. *Fixed* ended up being a ground.
Hello, well my little attention whore of a car is acting up again lol. it randomly died one day and has started since. i thought maybe it was my fuel pump and or filter. but i just wanna double check first if im right or wrong, probably wrong lol.
anyways. it drove fine and everything after i fixed the ignition problem accept it would sputter once i got over 6000 or if i put it to the floor to soon. like in to early of a gear or didnt ease on it. and it did that for a while before it died. but after it died on me, when id try to start it. it would wanna start and try and fire but would fail alot, and eventually it would fire but run like complete crap, unless i kept pumping the throttle it wouldnt stay alive. and now, after a week or so of putting it off i tried starting it for shits n giggles because i was takin out the garbage and it wouldnt start when i cranked it, but when i let off the key and let it go to the ON position, it would fire up real quick then die. sorry for the huge speech btw.
am i right on the pump/filter or? i was thinking maybe spark plugs could be a cause too but idunno. i lost my only ratchet and long extension so i cant check yet.

Spark is there, i did a HEI mod not to long ago to avoid buying a new coil/disty. Would a disty thats fucked cause these problems? cause im sure theres something there that will cause these exact problems. wish i had some more years under my belt for cars. be so much easier haha.

Biggggggg intake leak would cause what you describe. Check that your valve cover vents are connected to the intake tube. Make sure the brake booster hose didn't crack wide open.
Also check the wires on the harness connector to the VAF. If I unplug my VAF I can start the car and keep it running if I rev it up, but it dies instantly if I stop.

Valve cover vents? like the PCV valve? yah its connected. i caught it hissing and replaced the hose with some big vacuum hose and little hose clamps on each side. all sealed. these problems happened after that though. hmmm i never checked the break booster hose but im pretty sure its okay because i did put a new hose on it when i did my swap. and the VAF plug, how would i really check that? ill check my manual n see if theres a way with a multimeter.

Re: Weird problem.. again. -.-
There is a tube that comes out of your front valve cover and runs along the front and around the side. It connects to a similar tube from the back of the rear cover and together they go into the nipple on the intake tubing. If that hose breaks or falls off or otherwise allows air to be sucked into the intake it will screw things up because it's after the VAF and the excess air that gets sucked in is unmeasured.
Check the wires on the harness at the VAF plug and make sure one or more didn't break. You can measure the specs of the VAF, but I doubt it's that.

There is a big azz stubby hose on the very back passenger side of your intake. Check it. It's about 3 inches long and bends 90 degrees.

Re: Weird problem.. again. -.-
i feel like the biggest idiot in the world. yesterday i helped buddy replace all the LED's in his head lights then decided to go take a gander to my car since the rain stopped. was tinkerin and what not, shook this shook that. tried to fire it up. its fired up perfectly fine, ran good. pulled out the wire from ten and ground and the idle jumped up and ran fine, i went to the belt side of the motor to make sure everything was fine and dandy. seen my crank angle sensor wire was rubbing on my pulley, fixed it and tie strapped it. but as i was doing that, i tugged on the wire loom its connected to by accident and the car started to stumble and almost died then it came back. so i shook it again and it did it again, shook the wire closer to the fire wall and killed the motor completely but i could hear something sounding like its sparking, look around............. THE GROUND BY THE VRIS POINT!!!! was so loose the bolt was 1/4" out, tightened that back up and the car runs fine now!!! LOL. fixed my stumbling issue when i punch it and also fixed the issue when im above 6000rpms. hahaha sorry everyone, my noobyness with cars came into play here lol. Live and learn!
Re: Weird problem again. *Fixed* ended up being a ground.
Lol I did that not long ago. Took the IM off and it wouldn't start when I reinstalled, had me stumped for a good 30 mins. Forgot that little ground wire too haha!
