Re: 1.8 tranny
The K8 (1.8 L) and KL (2.5 L) trannies are the same. They just have different gear ratios, depending on the model.

Re: 1.8 tranny
Assuming you mean the manual transmissions. The automatic transmissions for the 1.8L and 2.5L are not compatible. Just wanted to clarify...

Re: 1.8 tranny
so, if i take a mazda mx-6 (ford probe GT) manual transmission, and put it on my k8 (because my K8 tranny just went), it will bolt up to this engine and match my MX-3"s engine mounts lol. SERIOUSLY!!! I think it works I just want some positive feedback that isn't me.

Re: 1.8 tranny
Yes, but the gearing will be a little different. Longer gears, a little lower RPM at highway.

Re: 1.8 tranny
MX-6 uses a longer gearing trans than the Ford Probe. The Probe's is exactly like the Mx-3 @ 4.38:1. The 626 and Mx-6 use 4.11:1 final drive, as well as a slightly taller 5th gear. They all swap in like stock.mikeetown wrote:so, if i take a mazda mx-6 (ford probe GT) manual transmission, and put it on my k8 (because my K8 tranny just went), it will bolt up to this engine and match my MX-3"s engine mounts lol. Re: 1.8 tranny
Thanks dude. I figure my car would be slower with an MX-6 tranny in various ways, but whatever cause i've been doing lots of highway driving.Nd4SpdSe wrote:MX-6 uses a longer gearing trans than the Ford Probe.
