First off, how did you not see this coming? Figured 2000km to a tank was reasonable? I'm just wondering...

Second, are you actually out of gas? Not to insult you any more, but what makes you think this is actually the problem?

I'm skeptical only because the float obeys the laws of gravity, and usually it fills with fuel and sinks, so the tank reads too low, not too high.

Pop off the back seat, pull off the fuel pump cover, and take a peek in the tank. See whats going on.

Try filling it up and taking it for another tank. It could be many other things. Anything from a timing belt to a fuel pump

first off did you put gas back in it and if you did did it start some kinda need to know info
if it does yes a float can stick you can pull it out and mess with it to try to get it right or replace the sending unit
if you put gas in it and it still doesnt start listen for the fuel pump to kick on if it doesnt it could be a fuel pump to a fuse to a relay
