K8 into Probe

Hey all!

Do you think that a K8 from a MX will fit into a probe that has a ZE?

I know it would take work but I'm willing. Any info would help.

Thanks,

If you can go DE into MX3 you can go k8 into probe...won't be that hard...but the question is why? It will be slow as balls! DE has more HP than K8, and the probe is heavier than the mx3.

DE's are cheap, just get another one!

If you have a free k8 and don't wanna shell out money, just keep the probe mounts and tranny. Everything should fit fine...sensors might be your only trouble depending on what year the car/motor are.

Well the probe has a ZE and my car is a 94'.

The reason why I am askin if I can put the K8 into the probe is a long story but it makes sense.

I don't know why people ask these questions.

Its like those little shape puzzles you get when you are one or two years old.

If you can put the circle through the circle hole, you could put the hole around the circle.

If it works one way, it obviously works the other.

Thanks for your input.

Did you think about wiring? What ECU to use?

I've never done a DE/ZE swap, but as far as everyone else says, the wiring is the same between certian compatable years (OBDI/OBDII).

Since its a K8, I'd use the K8 ECM. Probably along with its respective VAF/MAF and other such sensors...

Its just the reverse of what we normally do. If you do a DE swap, you'll know how to do a K8 swap.

I guess the only thing I'd wonder about is if you must use certain parts for both swaps, like a halfshaft.

poles and holes lol

Well, I really want to know why. I'm sure it's a long story and what not... but I just cannot understand why someone would do and engine swap to make their car slower?

If you can get a K8 for like, Free, than ya, but for the most part, DE's are much more available, thus cheaper to get.

Swap the ECU for a K8 and the VAF for a JE50 both of which I just happen to have. :)
If this was a [FS] post I would probably say $50 for the VAF and $50 for the ECU but since this isn't a [FS] post I can't comment. Oh Shipping is on top of that. lol

Well it was a questions for if a deal went through with t-mac.
The probe had a DE in it and I wanted to buy the car swap the K8 with the ZE then sell the probe.

But I would sell a car faster (especially a probe) if it had an engine in it. Hence the K8.

But it doesn't matter now, cause the car was sold.
