Did you by any chance put the 2nd gen rx7 mass air flow sensor on?

Have you just tried pulling the code to see what the CEL is about? It may explain a few things...

If you got a 4 banger, it'd be more worthwhile to go BP rather than klze - you'd need a v6 donor car!

You will also spend more money fixing the car when its broke rather than planning the swap out in advace

You could either get a BP and turbo it or a BPT - ~2-3000 for either set up, including all fluids, belts, etc. etc. It really depends how much you want to throw at it...price could keep going up.

I would seriously check the codes for your current problem - some of the sensors you will be reusing, so it could be something that will stick with a new engine! It might be something simple! (Oxygen sensor?)

You need a freakin' O2 sensor, probably.
But don't get an aftermarket O2 sensor. OEM, or someone reputable. Denso, I guess bosch (meh), or bust.

Seriously, pull the stupid codes. 15 minutes could save you 1500 dollars or more on your car, assurance!
And your code reader consists of a paperclip. Have at it. Go to town.

If you're not going to pull your codes, we're not going to help you.

Exactly. You don't want to pull the codes, yet you want us to help you with an odd problem and not want to give us specifics as to what's going on...

We can't guess, and if you don't care about fixing the problem, than neither do we...
