Global Warming...
If you believe what Mr. Gore is trying to sell people on you might want to take another look!
http://english.pravda.ru/science/earth/106922-0/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Global warming does exist in that the earths temps will change on its own, it does not exist in that you put all the blame on the human race, especially when a 1 volcano puts out more co2 than we do.

Where is this global warming the hippies are speaking of? It's -30 Celsius right now (-22 Fahrenheit for you Imperial dogs), and my car doors have frozen shut

only 30? You're lucky. We've got 36. 47 with wind chill.
Our community doens't talk in negative degrees anymore. We just dropped the negative. If we mean above zero, we say positive. It was getting tiresome to say "negative degrees" 98% of the time.
You can blow power steering hoses in these temperatures.

My power steering pump whines a bit at first when it gets below freezing. I believe thats from moisture in the fluid. Same thing happened in another vehicle I had. I'll do a flush in the spring. I'm going out to start my ZE, haven't had it going since last month. If it starts kudos to me for doing an impecable install.

Re: Global Warming...
Well actually almost all the sources agree on the cyclic rotation of ice age to warm period. The problem is that all the article and people try to convince you that they are right, and everyone is wrong.
The only people that are wrong are the people that think we should do nothing.
What Al Gore is arguing is that we are building up our CO2 levels beyond the "normal" range and that we will indeed have an ice age, but it will be greater than it should be and more devastating because of it.
This article is saying its inevitable and humans have no control because its nature.
Here are some facts:
In my environmental engineering class we talked about burning 1 gallon of alcohol - one of the cleaner burning fuels, right? 1 gallon of alcohol produces something like 3-4 THOUSAND gallons of CO2.
Please don't tell me that volcanoes produce more CO2 than people.
Insert government study - and seriously, google it.
http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/volcanowatch/2007/07_02_15.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That being said, in my eyes, are we headed towards an ice age?
YES
Is it inevitable?
YES
Is it hopeless?
NO
This is the problem. People are NOT working towards a solution. An ice age is BOUND to happen, whether its 1 year 5 years or 500 years, we should be preparing for it, reducing greenhouse gases and stopping global warming.
The fact is, we do not know exactly WHY there will be an ice age...there are only theories, and evidence than ice ages have happened. Who knows if the CO2 level means anything else besides how hot the earth will get before it enters the ice age. Does it speed it up? Make it worse? Nothing?
Will reducing the CO2 dramatically delay the ice age? Stop it? Make is less dramatic?

thats because the earth is doing what is called the ice cube effect, the earth is going to get so hot that all the water will be on the verge of boiling, then all of a sudden its going to freeze. The earth has to do this so that the earth will freeze faster, because we all know hot water freezes faster than cold, gah haven't you made Ice cubes before! <lots of sarcasm in that statement lol
This post was to address the Tree loving hippies who think that global warming is being caused sby humans and to those who fail to acknowledge that the earths climate will change on its own (how they can not see that is beyond me). Yes humans play a part in this role, but still a smaller role than some lead us to believe. I'm not saying we don't need to make a change, but all this BS I see on the news now is just hilarious. I wish I could be around when the sun gets hotter (which it will), and see what they blame it on this time. What? no its not that the sun is getting hotter, our home HVAC systems are heating up the earth because we are heating our houses, the hot air escapes and heats up the earth!

Re: Global Warming...
I don't know whether global warming is real or if it is the root cause of anything...but I do know that the same scientists that are paid by the big oil companies to dispell the global warming "myth" were also paid by the tobacco makers 20 years ago to prove that tobacco doesn't cause cancer.
I also can't explain why the ice shelf is vanishing.
I also can't explain where the ozone layer went. I'm pretty sure that was not a symptom of the last ice age.
It's much like gun control. The only ones arguing against it are the ones who have a vested interest in keeping things going the way they are...which is clearly not working. In my city they are trying to enact an anti-idling bylaw to prevent people from leaving their cars running for no reason. Not to stop people from warming up their cars, it isn't even in effect below -25ºC. It's to stop the lazy pricks who think it's ok to let their cars run at -10 when they go to the liquor store or who warm their cars for 30 mins. Only a complete moron would oppose this bylaw...but they come out of the woodwork. "What about my personal freedoms?" Well who's fighting for the Earth's freedom?
So what if reducing emissions won't solve the problem. 2% less greenhouse gas is an improvement and it costs you nothing to make the effort. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. Period.
I consider a person's unwillingness to acknowledge their impact on the Earth or to do something to improve it a serious character flaw.

Sorry man but to equate the life cycle of a star which is pretty well understood, with the inexplicable changes in the Earth's climate, and ecosystems is really rediculous.Mnemonic wrote:Nd4SpdSe wrote:They can't make up their minds, can't they...

All that aside, the irrefutable truth is that the Earth is a delicate machine and we are introducing stimuli that she was not intended to have to deal with. Sure volcanoes create CO2 and I'msure at times throughout the Earth's history levels have been elevated for short periods after big eruptions, but by buring up all the world's fossle fuel we are essentially acting as a virtual volcano that has been continuously erupting all over the face of the planet for 150 years or so. How can that not be devastating to the environment? Any human intervention which moves the Earth away from it's natural balance must be seen as a bad thing. I'm guilty of it, we all are...but trying to pretend it isn't so is just crazy.
