Car slows down before accel pedel is fully let go

Hey everyone im not sure if this is much of a problem but when I was driving my GS just recently after reaching a certain speed such as 55mph I let go my gas pedal almost fully but when I let it go around 90% it starts to bog forward and slow down automatically but my foot is still puching the gas pedal.. Perhaps my accel pedal cable needs to be tightened? Kind of hard to explain

Definitely check to see if the cable is tight in the "rest" position. Look on your TB in your engine bay. Then have someone push the pedal down (w/ car off) and see if you can see the problem.

If it were your cable, then it would take about 10% depression before you got throttle response..
If this were happening to my car, I'd be 10% depressed.

Make sure your emergency brake is not dragging and your brake calipers are moving properly.....

Thanks everyone. I am pretty sure it is the emergency brake not fully disengaged.. because it only happens to me once in a while while driving. weird though the e-brake warning light did not even come on the dash.

Keep in mind the ebrake light only comes on when the actually handle is pulled up, not when the cable is pulled. I'd suggest taking off the ebrake center console cover thing (hey that was the best explanation i could come up with) and check it out.

Could also be a seized caliper?

Hey everyone its doing it again. I took notice it only does it after filling up the car with gas. and it does it more when it is hot weather after filling gas tank up. before I let go the gas pedal all the way out it slows down but when I leave it in the same position about a couple of seconds later it accels like it skips back and fourth. Maybe a distro problem? I know its not the e-brake for sure now.

Run a few bottles of injector cleaner/fuel system cleaner with the next few fillups....

Wait, what car is this? I thought you had an RX-8.

My gf's car lurches if you let off the gas when it's cold, and it also rev hunts. If it were an MX-3, I might be able to troubleshoot it, but it's a Pontiac G5... I'm confused.

But yeah it usually skips when I accel lightly. its annoying when I shift because it bogs down and it accels back up making me chirp tires. Only does it when the engine is hot.. Goes away after driving it a bit. Usually does it after filling up gas tank..

there is a possibility that something in your fuel tank is gettin stirred up when you fill yer tank and might be blocking the pump. My fuel "sock" fell of the pump and kept getting sucked up when ever i would make hard turns, fill up, or accelerate hard. doesnt hurt to check . good luck man
