The valve rides up and down in the VALVE GUIDE. The VALVE FACE contacts the VALVE SEAT which is pressed into the head and carefully machined to match the valve face to seal the combustion chamber. The VALVE STEM SEAL or simply the VALVE SEAL has a metal body which fits over the valve guide and a rubber (actually Butyl or Viton usually) lip which seals against the VALVE STEM to prevent oil from leaking down the stem onto the valve face and being burnt.

There is no other "seal" associated with the valve assembly.
