ZE No Start

I finished installing my KL ZE and now i cant get it to start.

Timing looks good

all sensors connected

it turns over and sometimes fires briefly but dies right away.

ive got spark fuel air.

My first thoughts are tb ecu combination. Currently on the car i have the curved neck manifold with a kl 68 throttle body and my K8 ECU because im waiting for my other ECU arrives. I am just trying to make sure the engine runs before i re install the axles and all the other stuff incase i have to remove the enigne again

If i put the K8 manifold and throttle body on do you guys think it will run

you can run the k8 ecu with the full ZE setup, so i wouldnt bother to swtich that all out... i doubt it would help. what VAF is running, k8? how did you confirm fuel? if i had to guess i would say it's air. you sure vaccum's all buttoned up right?

im not sure about all of the vacuum lines casue i dont have a proper routing diagram. yea i was running the k8 VAF is that an issue??

Make sure everything is plugged in. and there are no vacumn leaks. also are the fuel lines conncted properly. don't matter what ECU and Vaf combo you use.

Make sure your plug wire order is correct.I made that mistake!

as long as the order is the same as it is on the cap then i shouldnt have an issue

im using the k8 disty

double check them. they could be going to the wrong cylinders. Also check fuel lines. Did you swap the EGR from the k8 onto it with the manifold. You gotta make sure there is no vacumn leaks on that stuff.

well it starts every time now but only runs for a short while sputtering badly then it dies

im still trying to figure this problem out. but at least it starts every time. turns out it was a fuel issue in the injectors. some of them wernt firing so not all the cylinders were getting fuel

What did you do to correct the fuel issue. I think the K8 and DE use the same injectors so you could try using the ones from your K8 to make sure they are all giving a good spray. It is common that the injectors will gum up in an engine that sits for too long.

yea to fix the no start issue i swapped the fuel rail and injectors and also fuel pressure regulator. you said the k8 and DE injectors are the same size what about ZE injectors are they the same as well.

kfze klde klze all use same injectors, k8 use smaller ones, and kj uses the largest

oops, Brian is right, sorry for the misinfo. I was thinking the De and K8 were the same, but it is the ZE and DE that are the same. Meaning that you might not be getting enough gas with the K8 injectors.

its done

it runs decently despite having the wrong ECU installed.

but you know that feeling you have when you have a baby, i had it yesterday when i got it running

now i really need my ecu to come,

but heres another question if i have a probe gt ECU lying around can i use it if i dont have a probe VAF? will it run better?

It will run worse. Wait for the ZE ecu and use the K8 vaf and you'll be in good order.
