hey i some how came across the king of all deals. this guy approched me and asked if it was my mx3 he saw in the parking lot and i told him yes. he then continued to tell me that he had a mx3 with a ZE swap in it and a spare 2.5 laying around. then he told me that if i wanted it i could have it all for free he just wanted to free up space in his garage. the dudes legit. the spare engine is a hybrid DE with ZE heads on it. and the engine in the car is a true ZE. i want to take the better engine and put it in my car that i already had seeing as i put huge money into making it gorgeous i want it to go now too. the only kicker is both engines have been sitting for two years.
my questions are about how much horse power could i expect out of the hybrid.
and my other question is he only put about 1000 miles on either motor. and they were both guaranteed to have around 30000 when he put them in. so they have lets say 40000 miles tops on them. do you think it should be stout as it is even tho its been sitting for a year or two or should i rebuild it.
which motor should i put in my current car and what should i rebuild if i have to.

oh man, just get the hybrid, there's nothing wrong with that, you will gain a NOTICABLE amount of horsepower no doubt(like you are tlaking about 50hp)
my friend just put a DE on the mx3 and it was auto, the thing spins tires in second gear
PS, it's wierd to see ZE heads on DE block, usually it's othe way around, DE has stronger valve train then ZE and ZE has the high compression pistons,
but whatever, you can't go wring witht the motor, and i do no see point in rebuilding it when it only has 40K on it
just put a little but of tranny fluid thought the spark plug holes before you start, let it sit and let it idle for a while before you start drivign it

the thing is i have both engines i dont have to decide which engine to get just which to put in. and the only reason im skeptic about just droping it is is that it has been sitting for two years with out being run.

Wait, he's offering to give you both motors? WTF? Is he giving you the car as well, or does he have a 3rd engine he's hoping to put in it? Else what's he gonna do with a motor-less car?
Out of the two I'd take the ZE, along with the car that it's in, so you don't have to do the swap. If you feel like re-building, take the hybrid and put it in your car, and then rebuild the ZE, because a rebuilt ZE is gonna give you more power in the end.

yeah hes giving me the car the ze thats in it and the hybrid. and spare parts. the only reason i wanna swap one of the motors to my car is all the work ive done on my car already and its a 94 vs a 92. i think im going to end up taking the ze out of the new car and putting it in mine and then putting the hybrid into the new car.
aslong as no one thinks i need to rebuild it before installing it i should start next weekend.
