SRD control arm bushings - what type of grease to use?

Post by Mooneggs »

When I got my second set of SRD bushings for the control arms, I also received some green grease. Since my first set did not have this grease I need to buy some.

I've been told it is some type of Moly-? grease but I want to make sure I get the right kind. I went to the autoparts store last night and picked up some "moly-graph" multi purpose grease for extreme pressure. But this kind is black. So I'm not sure if the color matters or if I bought the right kind...

I know that the grease works so I don't have creaks or squeaks on my other car and I just want to make sure I get the same kind because taking those control arms off is a pain...but I NEED to lubricate them and they creak like an old house about to fall apart!

any help is appreciated!! :D

I think it is spelled Moly-Bendum, or something like that. I used that the first time via Luke's suggestion and it squeeked like crazy. It took them off to regrease them and used some multi-purpose synthetic grease and it is quiter, but still not perfect.

so it squeaked like crazy after you used the moly bendum??

I used the green stuff on my fast car and it makes no noise so I want to use the same kind on my slow car...

yeah it looks like they are under the engine > drivetrain... not sure if they are in stock though...

I haven't put mine in yet in either car... they make a big difference? do you have to lubricate those too to keep from creaking?

I used wite lithium grease, never have had to re grease them. been on the car for probably 30K + miles. I know others who have used moly lube or enegy grease, and eventually they squeeked.

I have an extra set, but its missing one of the Flat Neo washers. bran new though.

I had a set of these SRD bushings also which never came with any grease, cant remember which grease the mechanic had used on installation but they began to squeak after a while. I couldnt stand the noise after a while and took them off and put on new OEM bushings.
