Did you throw strip the outside of your allan head bolts with your strut tower bar install?

ZOMG, don't remind me. The suffering. Oh the humanity!

My beef.

Post by tehbrookzorz »

I just wanted to whine and warn people.

When you get your Ractive/whatever brand strut tower bar, it might be wise to trash the bolts that come with it. You know, the one with the Allan Keyed heads. They're a pain, and after I stripped mine and fought with them for a couple hours, I realized that I'd be much better off to just throw some good old handy dandy hex head bolts on there that I could tighten up with a wrench. So save yourself the trouble. Do it right, do it pink. Er.. With bolts.

Will be starting a worklog soon and post pics of the install. Found some black bolts with black nuts(omg he's advocating interacial porn ). Looks awesome.

I was waiting for that kind of response 8)

I just posted this thread mostly for fun and to see what kind of input I'd get. But really, I don't have an allen key that big.

you can buy them at any auto parts store to connect to a rachet... it's either an 8 or a 9.

:) It's okay, I found a couple black bolts with matching black nuts that I think look better and will be more convenient to take off if need be.

I like my black bolts. Maybe I'll post pics.

I was mainly annoyed that Ractive supplies the allan keys for their shifter knobs but doesn't bother to for their strut bars. :(

Not a biggy though. Just felt like whining so I could be cool like auto service customers.
