Brakes??? All Disk vs. Front Disk + Rear Drum??

Post by simo711 »

Alright. I have a good one for you guys to answer. What is better to have on an MX-3? All Disk or Front Disk + Rear Drum...let me know. Also, how much would it cost to have the rear brakes be disk??? Just a curious question. Chris

i think there might be a little better braking with rear disk brakes. however, my rear disk brakes froze and i have to replace them for a lot more than a replacement for drums.

Hello,
I have been contemplating this for a while and have decided to just stick with front disc/ rear drum. In order to do the swap correctly you have to change the following items.
1. Master cylinder
2. Proportioning valve
3. Calipers
4. Rotors
5. Emergency Brake Cable
6. Rear Spindles
I am sure I am missing something else. Your Front brakes do most of the braking anyways so I decided to just get cross drilled rotors and some nice pads from corksport for the front and keep the rear drums. Also, if you really think of it, rear disc brakes weigh more than rear drums. :) weight reduction baby!!!
