Best transmission oil

So the MX3 I bought has ~208k km on it, and as far as I can tell it's the original clutch. It's got about 10,000 more km left on it, I'd say.

I plan to swap in the KLZE in the summer, but in the meantime, the transmission feels a little rough. I'd like to flush and fill it with new oil.

Is there a consensus on what the best oil is? I used 80/90 synthetic gear oil on my escort and it was very smooth, even in the winter. Most people recommend the merk/dexron 3 ATF fluid though.

Experiences? I don't have the chilton's manual yet.

Yeah, manual.

Nevertheless, this was the recommended fluid for the Escort's transmission... I'm guessing not for the MX-3?

You can run an auto trans fluid in our gearbox's. The G and the F series. They were designed to use both types of fluid.

Personally, I use Royal Purple 80-90 synthetic and will only use this gear oil from now on. It's roughly $9 a quart.

Lucas 80w90 Trans Fluid w/ 1 bottle Lucas Trans Fix.

15,000+ miles on a Pro-LX box at 400+WHP and hasn't broke.

Only down side to adding the Trans Fix is a cold gear box needs to be shifted gently for the first couple blocks...after that it loves to be slammed through the gears!
