*Feeler Thread* Custom CF Hood

Post by Neil »

Image

Hey guys.

Oscar @ Pakfeifer asked me to see if there was any interest in this hood in Carbon Fiber.

He has already talked to Mx3Girl about using it (If there is enough interest)

Anyone be interested in a CF version of this hood.

(Keep in mind this is a FEELER thread, not a group-buy thread. i just posted it here so none of the mods have to move it later)

I would say, based on experience and the first 15 hoods:

Estimated cost on 2 part mold: $1,800 CDN
Estimated cost on each part: $450 CDN

Mold cost divided between 15 hoods = approx $120 CDN

Total cost of hood: $570 CDN + shipping. And only for the first 15 guys

Shipping is usually $80CDN anywhere in Canada and $130 CDN to anywhere in the US.

Take into consideration, this hood would retail for the same as the Inverted style ($695 CDN + shipping) The reason being that the scoop adds curves and bends that make it tricky for the actual layup of the CF.

As Neil stated, this is only a feeler.

I kinda like way Sti's got that "6pack" scoop design. Pretty much they stole it from old Mopars.

Is that a functional hood scoop or just for show?

never liked that. saw it on another pinkish-red mx3 from eastern canada i believe ... mx3girl's car is utterly malicious, but that scooper is a no-no-go

there'd probably be more interest in a carapace of the above nature though
six gills (or ventilated six-pack?), but minus the little scoop in front of them ... just the gills ... i'd be all over it for the mx3 ...

i kind of liked Yence's hood, very similar, but this Seibon one is all curvaceous, thus possessing more sha-bang

is there any remote possibility that EvilyYeti or Pakfeifer could produce that six gill hood? if there is, i'd wait, but i've been running a hood with chips all over it ever since i got my car so i've been inches away from ordering an Invader from Raceonusa, but if u can develop this hood for the mx3, i'd be in ... ... ... ... please let me know
