what am i missing

Post by escortluver19 »

my swap is not working out.I put the kl03 in my escort wagon and it doesnt want to start.I have the full harness from ecu to engine fusebox.I tried hooking up the fusebox connectors but the stock escort ignition harness is totally different. Can anybody tell me whats the least i need to have to get the car running.Do i need the headlight/ignition harness and inside fusebox and ignition switch? How much more mx3 gs harness do i need to get the car to start.Ill replace as much as i need to but im not good with wiring so i need to know which harness/relays/etc that i need from another mx3 to get it all to work.I know this is alot to ask but maybe its simple enough for you electrical experts. Thanks

I had a similar experience when swapping in a new gen BP engine into my mx-3.
Basically you have to keep the escort fusebox harness - i think it will have connectors for the alternator, starter and the speed sensor. The mx-3 engine harness will have some connectors that go to the mx-3 fusebox which wont fit the escort - so these connectors have to be swapped with the escort connectors - you have to look up the wire colors and names in both escort and mx-3 to make sure you are splicing the right wires.
